What Will You Be Doing?

Lead the Revenue Accounting team within the Accounting Department; developing and managing strategies, operations and policies related to operation of such unit. Modify, install, and/or maintain accounting systems to ensure proper and timely recognition of all revenue transactions. Oversee the Company’s A/P function and the administration of the general ledger application with a constant focus on automation and efficiency.

Essential Functions

  • Manage day-to-day operations of the Revenue Accounting team
  • Oversee the monthly revenue accounting close
  • Work closely with external auditors for quarterly reviews and to facilitate annual audit
  • Responsible for ensuring payment and settlement files are properly remitted to the company’s credit card processors and monitoring and managing chargebacks
  • Work closely with the Commercial team to ensure the timely and proper accounting treatment of new revenue initiatives
  • Manage the relationship with the company’s third-party fraud prevention processor
  • Review of various periodic government agency filings
  • Assist the tax team for any passenger tax audits
  • Liaison with industry organizations – ACH, IATA, ATPCO, BSP
  • Manage the UATP (Universal Air Travel Program), including the issuance of electronic cards.
  • Ensure compliance with internal controls, policies and procedures. Develop and monitor revenue accounting operational policies
  • Oversee financial systems team that administers procure-to-pay and general ledger systems including upgrade management, IT control compliance and process efficiency
  • Provide leadership to the A/P group that manages vendors and processes payments timely
  • Provide relevant, timely and constructive feedback regarding team performance

Qualifications

  • 7+ years of directly related experience in revenue accounting
  • Bachelor’s degree in finance-related discipline
  • 5+ years management experience in a corporate environment

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Knowledge of airline industry revenue accounting practices and procedures preferred
  • Knowledge of GAAP and ability to interpret and implement new accounting pronouncements
  • Excellent verbal, written, and analytical skills
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel
  • Strong project development and management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks
  • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines
  • Ability to communicate in a positive and effective manner with subordinates, peers, and all levels of management.
  • Ability to lead and motivate staff in a positive and professional manner
