The Global Headquarters for Volvo Financial Services is based in Greensboro, North Carolina and is home to the President of the Business Area, and the functional leaders for finance, credit/risk management, communications, human resources, and legal. The position is part of the Financial Planning & Analysis team within the Finance Department, with members across the globe. The scope of the role extends geographically through support of nearly 50 countries with significant cross-functional engagement (i.e. partnering with sales, operations, risk, accounting, capital markets, marketing, IT, etc.).

The Director of Financial Planning and Analysis will have the opportunity to build leadership experience within Financial Services, and is responsible for financial and business analyses, guiding the department in achieving its goals, ensuring adherence to both internal and external deadlines, collaborating with the Director of Data Visualization and Analytics, and supporting the professional development of our global network of finance professionals.

This position will be located in either Greensboro, NC USA, or Gothenburg, Sweden, and will report to the Vice President of Financial Planning and Analysis.

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Leadership and development of the Global Financial Planning and Analysis team
  • Mentorship to global HQ, region HQ, and local market analysts on topics such as pricing, modeling, and professional development
  • Effective and concise analysis of the financial position of the business resulting in proactive recommendations to business leaders
  • Preparation and establishment of profitability targets and measures
  • Manage the global planning process throughout the year, including monthly short-term forecasts in addition to the annual budget
  • Owner of the global reserve model and associated documentation; work alongside others in the Finance Department to update the model as new accounting pronouncements arise
  • Monitor and perform analysis on local market pricing assumptions, including risk and servicing cost factors
  • Create materials and provide training to regional and local market personnel on key FP&A topics such as reserve modeling, pricing, and planning
  • Oversee compilation and analysis of publically available information pertaining to competitor performance and assist in the presentation of findings to senior management
  • Support the Finance function in developing executive information, reporting, and measurements for financial and non-financial data
  • Continue to develop VFS financial policies and procedures to ensure that all financial transactions are controlled, tracked, reported, and analyzed in a timely manner, in accordance with Volvo’s Financial Policies and Procedures
  • Perform ad hoc reporting and analysis in support of the Finance department, Chief Credit Officer, SVP Communications, etc.
  • Work successfully in a small but focused team with broad exposure to our international markets and senior management
  • Travel occasionally both inside and outside the United States (10% or less)
  • Other duties as assigned
EDUCATION AND PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE
  • BS/BA in Finance/Accounting or related field is required. CPA and/or MBA preferred.
  • 7-12 years progressive experience in financial services industry
  • 3+ years of experience with Volvo Financial Services or another captive finance company
  • Multi-national corporate work experience strongly preferred
  • Proven leadership competency demonstrated by successful managerial experience
  • Innovative problem solving coupled with strong analytical and quantitative abilities
COMPETENCIES AND SKILLS
  • Proven organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and work effectively on multiple tasks in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
  • Fluency in reading, writing, and speaking English; additional languages a plus
  • Demonstrated ability to achieve goals with minimum supervision
  • Proficient with MS Office, with advanced knowledge in Excel and PowerPoint
  • Experience with Hyperion Essbase and data visualization tools (e.g. Power BI)
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills with exposure to various business settings
  • Integrity and unquestionable ethics
  • Multicultural awareness
