This role will oversee environmental compliance at assigned Business unit/Region field locations for SDM and AERC divisions.
Primary Responsibilities (Essential Functions):
- Assist Operations to maintain facility compliance with all permits and environmental regulations by ensuring that facilities are assessed on a routine basis.
- To lead and champion a strong EHS compliance culture within the area and/or business units
- Implementing, embedding and ensuring compliance with CE environmental permits and regulations. Work with the operations submit amendments to permits.
- QA/QC entries into our SEMS EHS Management system to ensure accuracy, adequate review, follow up and closure.
- Ensuring our EHS Program and training is implemented and followed, including effectively communicating EHS issues to team members at all levels.
- Prepare and submit required environmental reports and monitor facilities that are submitting reports.
- Identify metrics and KPIs.
- Provide support for audits and regulatory inspections.
- Provide regulatory support for active acquisitions.
- Perform comprehensive environmental audits.
- Oversee 3rd party vendor information and manage review and approval process.
- Frequent contact with various levels of CE ROD’s, regarding environmental programs, issues, and concerns, including but not limited to Operations Managers, and Engineering Team.
- Contact with regulatory and government agencies, industry bodies and trade associations and members of the public as required regarding environmental issues
- Regular contact with the EHS team regarding updates/changes to regulations and site inspections.
- Occasional contact with customers following significant EHS issues.
- Occasional contact with external consultants and labs/professional services
- Up to 5 direct reports
- Responsible for input into EHS budgets and projects within their business unit and/or area including team member expenses.
Basic Required Qualifications:
- Education equivalent to bachelor’s degree in a Science or Environmental Discipline, or the equivalent in related work experience, demonstrating knowledge of environmental regulations and compliance with experience managing customer compliance programs.
- Significant related experience, demonstrating good knowledge of regulatory requirements as they apply to the waste industry.
- Demonstrates working knowledge of all relevant international, federal, state, and local environmental legislation.
- Demonstrates proficient computer skills in Excel, Cad, Adobe, and Word.
- Holds a valid motor vehicle license
- 30% travel

- Demonstrates the ability to ask questions and gather information, read and interpret regulations. Demonstrates the ability to identify problems and suggest possible causes and solutions.
- Demonstrates the ability to be detailed and review and proofread work for accuracy and complete specific aspects of assignments, as directed. Concentrates on tasks at hand, even in distracting work environments.
- Demonstrates the ability to present ideas and information in a clear, concise, organized, and diplomatic manner; listen to others to respond effectively to ideas and questions.
- Demonstrates the ability to modify behavior, as needed, in order to maintain effectiveness in a changing situation, and with varying tasks, responsibilities, or people.
- Demonstrates the ability to manage own time, activities, and resources. Identify specific activities re-quired to accomplish objectives, rank them in order of importance, and coordinate and take action to achieve desired results. Prioritize multiple activities and projects.
