Healthcare is a rapidly changing environment and technology is integrated into almost all aspects of patient care. Computers and other electronic devices are utilized across the organization and throughout each department. Colleagues must have an understanding of computers, and competence in using computers and basic software programs.
The Director of Behavioral Health Systems is focused on the oversight and strategic management of operations in their assigned department(s). This position requires 24 hours/day 7 days/week responsibility. S/he will provide leadership to ensure quality initiatives; customer service and fiscal responsibility are achieved and maintained in the department. S/he functions across the healthcare continuum, interacting and collaborating with other professionals to facilitate optimal outcomes. Meets the requirements of outside agencies to maintain certification, licensure: AZDHS, EMTALA, and other certifying agencies at local, state and federal levels, as deemed appropriate to assigned departments.
Responsibilities:
Leadership/Management
- Accountable for daily staffing, and assures patient needs are met with highest quality.
- Leading short and long-term strategic initiatives, specific to department director oversees.
- Accountable for oversight of daily operations – resources, compliance, service, quality (people/equipment).
- Demonstrates consistent critical thinking.
People
- Accountable for an engaged workforce – utilizing best practices.
- Responsible for building and role-modeling a culture of respect and integrity.
- Accountable for recruiting, retaining, and developing a skilled workforce that models NAH values.
- Develops others through coaching and mentoring.
Financial
- Develop and monitor departmental budgets – capital, operational.
- Adjust resources based on metrics – volume, productivity, cost.
- Develop business plans related to new services/service lines.
- Responsible for reviewing/renewing annual contracts for compliance.
- Knowledge of metrics and outcomes of business unit.
Strategic Planning
- Builds relationships – internal and external, based on respect, timeliness, follow-through.
- Creates an environment focused on meeting and exceeding the needs of our customers (patients, staff, visitors, providers).
- Represents NAH in our communities through memberships, presentations, communications, participation.
- Develops/leads interdepartmental/system collaboration across initiatives.
Corporate Compliance/Environmental Management
- Accountable for knowing and maintain all areas of compliance - DNV, CMS, etc.
- Building a culture of continuous improvement around patient and employee safety.
- Monitor trends related to safety and overseeing improvement - respond with appropriate level of urgency.
- Role model best practices - confidentiality, HIPAA.
- Knowledge of key quality metrics specific to departments and NAH - monitors, creates, communicates action plans.
Compliance/Safety
- Responsible for reporting any safety-related incident in a timely fashion through the Midas/RDE tool; attends all safety-related training programs; performs work in a safe manner; monitors work environment for possible safety issues and ensures others are also performing work in a safe manner.
- Stays current and complies with state and federal regulations/statutes and company policies that impact the employee's area of responsibility.
- If required for the position, ensures all certifications and/or licenses are up-to-date and valid prior to expiration dates.
- Completes all company mandatory modules and required job-specific training in the specified time frame.
Education
Master's Degree- Required
(LPC - Licensed Professional Counselor or MSN from an accredited program)- Required
Certificates and Licensure
Current, unrestricted Arizona RN, LPC, LMFT, or LCSW Licensure- Required
CPI- Required
BLS (American Heart Association)- Required
Fingerprint Clearance Card- Required
ICS 100, 200, 700 and 800- Required within 3 months of employment
ICE 100, 200, 700 and 800- Preferred upon hire
Experience
3 - 5 years of relevant management experience in acute care setting- Required
