About Us:
We at Next Step Transition Center are looking for self-starters who enjoy making a positive impact in the lives of individuals with special needs! We are looking for self-starters who enjoy making a positive impact in the lives of individuals with special needs. As a direct support professional, you will provide safety, security, and guidance to young adults while in the community. Care can include but is not limited to supervising the young adult while in the community, reduction of challenging behavior, assisting with independent living skills, providing guidance, and facilitating an environment of growth. Our goal is to provide young adults with the best care possible that caters to their individual needs while fostering their independence. The job position is one of an independent contractor.
Flexible schedule based on the needs and discretion of the young adult and family. May include overnights and weekends

Responsibilities:
Care can include but is not limited to feeding, assisting in the restroom, administering medications, and assisting with independent living skills. Our goal is to provide young adults with the best care possible that caters to their individual needs while fostering their independence. All applicants must have a valid driver's license and proof of insurance.
- Must communicate verbally and in writing in a professional and courteous manner.
- Must articulate clearly.
- Must be able to communicate (speak, read, and write) in English.
- Must be reliable in attendance and timeliness to work schedules.
- Must have hearing and vision correctable to normal ranges.
- Must demonstrate organizational skills.
- Ability to use body mechanics in controlling unpredictable behavior.
- Ability to participate in physical activities.
- Must demonstrate basic math skills (addition and subtraction).
- Must demonstrate time management skills through the successful completion of essential duties and assigned tasks in a timely manner.
- Must observe the environment using the various physical senses.
- High school diploma/GED or equivalent working knowledge
- Valid Texas Driver's License with a good driving record.
- Current Auto Insurance and the ability to maintain current auto insurance for the duration of hire
- Must pass a Criminal Background check (No DUI convictions in the past 10 years, No convictions for crimes of violence, substance abuse, or of a sexual nature)
