IT Desktop Engineer (Remote)
Position Summary
The IT Desktop Engineer will be responsible for providing second and third tier support to the ICU desktop infrastructure. This position will work extensively within the Incident, Change, Knowledge, Problem, Asset and Configuration processes, ensuring proper support, analysis, design, and implementation to the computing environment. Technology support is focused on issues related to desktop/laptops, operating systems, application software, network, peripherals, mobile devices and phone systems.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Act as desktop engineer point of escalation for the Service Desk and IT teams
- Manage support and development interactions through the IT Service Management System
- Resolve problems and incidents through complex troubleshooting and proactive problem management
- Design, configure, install, troubleshoot, diagnose, repair, and maintain infrastructure equipment, hardware, and software applications globally
- Create desktop configurations to provide performance, monitoring, and tuning of systems
- Assist in selecting and maintaining hardware and software standards for the ICU computing environment
- Ensure all global assets adhere to the Asset Management and Configuration processes
- Perform mass\global deployments as required and adhere to the Change Control process
- Establish configurations, images, and packages
- Build, utilize, and participate in the imaging and asset database application
- Work with infrastructure team to assist in deployment and maintenance of critical infrastructure
- Create standard operating process, procedures, and policies for the computing environment
- Assist with project management initiatives and tasks
- Perform team training as required
- Provide management reporting
- Engage with partnered vendors as necessary
- Ensure desktop environment adheres to security standards
- Assist in maintaining end point security and compliance
- Work with the virtualized desktop environment
- Work on special assignments as they arise
- Work after hours as necessary for general maintenance and on-call support
Knowledge, Skills & Qualifications
- CompTIA A+, Net +, Security + certification
- Apple Certified Support Professional (ACSP) Preferred
- MCSE
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Productivity Suite
Education and Experience
- High school diploma is required; Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related IT field is preferred
- 3+ years’ experience in Desktop and End User Device Engineering
Minimum Qualifications
- Must be 18 years of age
Travel Requirements
- Typically requires travel less than 5% of the time
Physical Requirements and Work Environment
- This is largely a sedentary role
- This job operates in a professional office environment and routinely uses standard office equipment
- May need to lift and transport moderately heavy objects, such as computers or peripherals.
This role is based remotely; the incumbent may be remote in any state other than Colorado; California; Connecticut; Montana, Maine or New York.
