Dental Billing Specialist Job at New Horizon Family Health Services

Under the direct supervision of the Revenue Cycle Manager, the Dental Billing Specialist is responsible for processing and posting of Medicaid, Medicare and Private Insurance remittances, electronic transmission of all patient billing information to appropriate entity for statement generation and billing, and following up third parties on status of payments. Also assists patients and Front Desk staff with clarification of patient accounts.
DUTIES PERFORMED
- Corrects errors to insurance, Medicare and Medicaid accounts to ensure receipt of payment.
- Performs all operations required to compile and generate third party payor bills according to the frequency schedule designated by the Chief Financial Officer or designee.
- Reviews billing media for correct format and data before transmission to third party payor offices.
- Assists patients and front desk with account problems.
- Posts insurance EOB’s (non-payment due to deductibles/non-coverage) and adjusts patient accounts and billing to patient non-covered charges.
- Observes schedule for work, lunch and breaks.
- Balances and records daily remittance posting. Submits report to supervisor.
- Enters all payments received at time of patient registration into respective patient accounts.
- Participates in CQI, other internal committees, special project/observances or activities that promote improvements in organizational performance and/or advance the mission, goals and objectives of New Horizon Family Health Services.
- Must hold all patient Protected Health Information (PHI) other patient personal information and agency information in confidence, in accordance with the attached Employee Confidentiality Statement, which I have read, understand and signed.
- Actively participate in and comply with all aspects of the NHFHS Corporate compliance Program, follow the Program Code of Conduct and obey all relevant laws, statutes, regulations and requirements applicable to Medicaid, Medicare and other State and Federal health care programs.

Experience and Skills:
Education
A minimum of high school diploma or equivalent.
Experience
Preferably two (2) years experience in medical insurance billing, general bookkeeping and/or clerical accounting.
Other Requirements
- Must be skilled in basic arithmetic computation.
- Must have a thorough knowledge of modern office equipment to include: telephone, copy machine, electronic calculator, and personal computer.
- Must demonstrate the ability to exercise sound judgment and discretion.
- Must be able to interpret and apply written policies and procedures.
- Must be able to correctly compute the information required by all insurance claim forms used in this office.
- Must demonstrate the ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
- Must have the physical capability to perform required tasks.
- Must be able to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.
- Must be dependable and conduct him/herself in a professional manner.
