Danforth Chair
Saint Louis University invites applicants for the Danforth Chair in the Department of Theological Studies. We seek a candidate who works in the Catholic theological tradition with the qualifications of an advanced associate or full professor. Saint Louis University is a nationally ranked research university and has set ambitious benchmarks for research excellence and productivity. The Department of Theological Studies has an outstanding record of research awards and publications with leading presses and journals—the Danforth Chair will be expected to strengthen this emphasis. As one of our visible leaders, the Danforth Chair will be asked to stimulate innovation within the Department, represent us effectively to wider constituencies, and strengthen recruitment efforts for our programs.
Area of specialization within the Catholic theological tradition is open, though the successful candidate will strengthen our graduate programs, including one or both concentrations of our doctoral program (Christianity in Antiquity and Christian Theology). The Danforth Chair will teach two courses each year, with offerings at the undergraduate and graduate levels. The Chair is also assigned a graduate assistant.
