Minimal Skills, Knowledge and Ability Requirements

- High school or equivalent diploma is preferred.
- Ability to perform basic math; add, subtract, divide and multiply.
- Ability to read a tape measure.
- Ability to read work orders and patterns.
- Strong attention to details.
- Exceptional time management skills with a sense of urgency.
- Maintain exceptional attendance.
- Must be able to lift, carry, and pull up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to work overtime when required.

Duties and Responsibilities
List the duties and responsibilities required of this job position; include applicable leadership responsibilities.

The Cutter is responsible for cutting and drills quality material (cloth fabric, paper, other material) into usable parts that can be manufactured into the finished product.

- Specific responsibilities include:
- Identifies and retrieves material to be cut in accordance with a sales order.

- Lifts and maneuvers the material onto the spreader and/or cutting table.
- Visually inspects the quality of material being used. May request secondary inspection from supervision.
- Prepares material for cutting by arranging patterns on top ply of fabric and marks outline of pattern on fabric with marker.
- Inserts the base of electric cutter under layers of fabric, starts cutter and guides cutter around edge of pattern or template or along markings on fabrics to cut out parts.
- Drills holes through layers of fabric, using electric drill and/or cuts notches in edges of parts with scissors or electric cutter and/or uses pen or grease pencil to mark parts for assembly as outlined in the sales order.

- Guides layers of fabric around blade of stationary cutter according to pattern markings.
- Sharpens the cutting blade with abrasive stone or belt attached to cutter as quality of cut indicates dull blade.
Separates the waste of cut material according to material and/or size.

- Marks identification number on parts.
