Renaissance School of Medicine - Stony Brook University, Department of Anesthesiology has a clinical faculty position in Critical Care Medicine available at the Assistant, Associate, or Professor level.

Critical care time focuses in the cardiovascular ICU, with exposure to a wide variety of post-operative cardiac, thoracic, and vascular surgical patients. Stony Brook is the major LVAD and ECMO center in Suffolk County, serving a population of 1.5 million. Responsibilities include education of medical students, and anesthesiology/surgery residents. The ICU is fortunate to have a full-time staff of dedicated critical care PAs. Point-of-care ultrasound is utilized, as well as other state of the art critical care skills, which can be developed on the job. There are opportunities for faculty to be involved with clinical and/or basic research.

Stony Brook University is located 60 miles from New York City on Long Island’s scenic North Shore. Its 1,100-acre campus is home to 24,000 undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral students and more than 13,500 faculty and staff, including those employed at Stony Brook Medicine, Suffolk County's only academic medical center and tertiary care provider.

The hospital is growing and adding 650,000 square feet of new clinical and research space, including a new state of the art CT-ICU wing. CT-ICU is 12 bed ICU with attending ratio to patients of 1 to 12 with PAs and Residents and fellows’ rotation to CT-ICU.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • MD or equivalent degree.
  • Completed or currently attending an ACGME accredited Fellowship in Critical Care Medicine.
  • Board certified/eligible in Anesthesiology.
  • Board certified/eligible in Critical Care Medicine.
  • Candidates must be eligible for licensure as a Physician in New York State.
