Job Announcement – LABORER
HOURLY RATE: $19.55 (Grade 1, Step 0)

This is routine manual work requiring physical endurance and a willingness to perform tasks under direct supervision. Does related work as required.

TYPICAL WORK ACTIVITIES: (Illustrative only)

• Assists in snow removal from highways;
• Assists in road and bridge repair, and construction;
• Mows and cuts grass and brush, planting and maintaining of plants;
• Cleans ditches and culverts, digs and backfills holes;
• Repairs guard rails;
• Sets up and removes snow fences, pumps, and pipelines;
• Assists in the preparation of the work site;
• Operates motor equipment in absence of Motor Equipment Operator;
• Paint signs, bridges, guard rails, motor equipment;
• Performs minor maintenance of equipment, including motor equipment;
• Keeps buildings clean and maintains grounds;
• May act as flagman;
• May act as wingman on snow plows;
• May drive County vehicles and transport work crews;
• May pick up/deliver supplies to and from work sites;
• Occasionally acts as watchman.

REQURIED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES: Willingness to perform routine manual work; Ability to lift heavy weights; Willingness to work under all weather conditions; Ability to follow oral and written directions; Manual dexterity; Physical endurance; Physical condition commensurate with the demands of the position.
