Founded in 1790, Carolina Youth Development Center is an important part of Charleston’s historic and cultural heritage, a direct descendant of the Charleston Orphan House, America’s first publicly-funded orphanage.

Today, CYDC provides programs reaching over 600 children, youth and their families locally each year. We care for young people who are victims of physical and sexual abuse, neglect and abandonment, as well as providing resources and support to area families at risk of having their children removed from their home.

Accredited by the Council on Accreditation (COA) continuously since 1980, CYDC is a funded partner of Trident United Way, and a member of Child Welfare League of America, the Palmetto Association for Children and Families and the Alliance for Strong Families and Communities.

OVERALL JOB PURPOSE:

The Coordinator of Family Support Services will plan, coordinate, and deliver groups, workshops, and programs designed to cultivate thriving families. Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to, planning, scheduling, and coordinating groups, workshops, and programs for families, recruiting and training coordinators and facilitators, identifying and securing community and business partners, and volunteers, supervising facilitators and volunteers, conducting weekly coaching sessions with coordinators and facilitators, monitoring groups, workshops, and programs, ensuring adherence to applicable grant requirements, and reporting program highlights and outcomes. The Coordinator of Family Support Services will work closely with the Clinical Director to align groups, workshops, and programs with organizational goals, evaluate the impact of each group, workshop, and program, and coordinate resources needed to ensure families are able to fully participate in the program.

In addition, the Coordinator of Family Support Services is responsible for providing a safe, nurturing, and optimal learning environment for all family members participating in the programs and upholding the overall mission, vision, values, and goals of the Carolina Youth Development Center.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Coordinate the delivery of groups, workshops, and programs designed to cultivate thriving families.
  • Volunteer Engagement, Coordination, and Supervision: Establish and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, partners, and volunteers as needed for activities, services, and programming.
  • Documentation: Completes all evaluation reports and other related data collection documents accurately, honestly, and on time.
  • Training: Participates in meetings and obtains required training.
  • Compliance: The Coordinator of Family Support Services will ensure that all employees adhere to the policies and procedures set forth by Carolina Youth Development Center and all applicable partners as well compliance with all grant requirements and contractual obligations

Functional Knowledge:

Type of Knowledge Required and or Skills Required: Must possess the knowledge and skills necessary to work with a diverse population as well as “high-risk” youth and families. Must have the skills to actively engage other professionals as well as excellent communication skills and the ability to develop well-rounded, behavioral interventions. Must possess excellent group facilitation skills.

Education and Specific Training: Minimum qualifications include: (1) Master's degree in a field related to social work and one year of social work experience working with the population being served; or (2) Holder of an active license in a field related to social work and one year of experience degree in a field related to social work; or (3) Bachelor’s Degree in a field related to social work and two years of social work experience.

Experience: Two years of social work experience working with the population being served.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $42,000.00 - $47,000.00 per year
