Position Summary

The College of Education and Human Sciences (COEHS) invites applicants for its Coordinator, Graduate Programs positions which support a variety of components and processes associated with graduate academic programs. The COEHS seeks to hire three (3) new Coordinators for the departments of Language, Literacy, Sociocultural Studies (LLSS), Special Education (SPCD), and Teacher Education, Educational Leadership & Policy (TEELP).

The ideal candidate for the Coordinator, Graduate Programs position is a team-oriented individual who possesses strong advising, analytical, organizational, and customer-service skills. This candidate must also enjoy working in an environment with diverse student, faculty, and staff populations.

Duties of the position include but are not limited to: Coordinates the various daily activities associated with several graduate academic programs and serves as liaison to the graduate student support services throughout the University. Monitor and support student academic progress and compliance with departments and university rules. Provides a range of academic progress, compliance, record management services, as well general administrative coordination and support services to the programs. Collaborate with faculty and graduate students to ensure timely program completion. Assess completion of academic requirements and analyze applications for candidacy, programs of study, transfer credits, and transcripts. Participate as a member of an academic departmental team.

Conditions of Employment
  • All regular, non-temporary positions assigned to this classification are represented by a labor union and subject to the terms and conditions of the US-UNM Collective Bargaining Agreement.
  • Employees who provide services or work in patient care or clinical areas are required to be in compliance with the University's influenza vaccination requirement.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree; at least 2 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.

Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.


Preferred Qualifications
  • Knowledge of and experience in UNM academic and administrative systems.
  • Professional experience in a higher education academic setting.
  • Experience in student advisement and related processes.
  • Experience working with confidential information.
  • Bachelor’s degree.
