Position Description:
To attend to the duties assigned to the everyday running of the kitchen including, but not limited to, food preparation, receiving, storing, and retrieving product, plating and utility work. The cook reports to the Chef.

- Meet department uniform, appearance, and grooming and personal hygiene requirements.
- Be proficient at broiling, griddling, frying, sautéing, and oven and steamer cooking.
- Follow company procedures when preparing recipes, cooking and serving.
- Assure that all processes of production and expediting of items are not changed without consulting the Chef.
- Demonstrate proper use of all kitchen equipment.
- Label, date and rotate all perishable and prepared products.
- Prepare patient meals in accordance with patient request. Ensure that food is cooked too standard is eye appealing and has the proper texture.
- Prepare meals in a timely manner to meet serving schedule.
- Monitor par items then prep ingredients for future use.
- Practice HACCP, infection control and sanitation protocols to promote safe and sanitary food preparation.
- Receive and check all food and nonfood products for quality and accuracy related to product specifications, quantity and quoted price.
- Clean and sanitize kitchen area, as well as all equipment used in the food preparation following each meal.
- Perform cleaning duties including sweeping and mopping.
- Clean, sanitize and organize and family kitchen
- Clean walk-ins, storeroom and all F & B areas.
- Empty Trash
- Scrape food from soiled dishes and silverware, load into dishwasher racks and wash in a timely manner using proper sanitation techniques. Unload clean dishes and put them away in preparation for next meal.
- Monitor dishwasher chemicals supplies and replaces when needed.
- Monitor food supplies, paper goods and condiments and informs the Chef when those items are below par.
- Check and restock patient snack room daily.
- Keep all necessary documentation up to date.
- Make sure all kitchen, freezers, etc. are locked at closing.
- Ensure that cleaning schedules are completed and signed.
- Ensure that area is prepared for upcoming shifts.
- Keep work areas clean and free of safety hazards, debris and litter.
- Perform all job duties in a safe and responsible manner.
- Any reasonable request made by your supervisor.
- Other duties as assigned.
The Ideal Candidate Will Possess the Following Requirements:
- High School diploma or GED; two (2) years’ experience in food production.
- Ability to read, interpret and write in the English language. Ability to professionally and effectively respond to inquiries, complaints, and request for information in one-on-one and small groups situations to clients, healthcare professionals and community members.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.
- Ability to define and clarify problems, collect all relevant input, draw valid conclusions and enact appropriate and effective solutions. Display high levels of personal and professional maturity. Ability to analyze care needs, resources and allocate responsibilities. Ability to interpret clinical and technical information and application in relationship to job responsibilities.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and work under stressful conditions. Professional maturity and the ability to respond effectively and calmly to emotionally distressed individuals. Ability to set and maintain appropriate professional boundaries with individual residents and group members.
- Reliable Transportation
- Communication and relationship skills: effective levels of written, oral and listening skills, always respecting the client's confidentiality.
- Team work: Functions consistently and collaboratively as part of the kitchen staff in addition to the other Hospice employees to contribute to optimal team functioning and outcomes.
- Ethics: Demonstrates a high level of work, personal and professional ethics.
- Available to work every Monday and every other Saturday.
