Community Outreach Job at VETERANS MULTI-SERVICE CENTER INC
Job Overview:
This position is responsible for ensuring accessibility to the program for Veteran households, especially those experiencing literal or imminent homelessness. Community Outreach personnel coordinate outreach initiatives to find homeless veterans to facilitate the program application process. This role works to develop community partnerships which provide veteran referrals and supportive services and establishes referral processes to support the access of benefits and resources. This position operates throughout Philadelphia County, PA.
Responsibilities:
Outreach activities include outreach to veterans, but also to partners and employers. Outreach often includes project orientation workshops for partners like Supportive Services for Veteran Families (SSVF).
- Overall outreach and recruitment throughout Philadelphia geographical area
- May participate in appropriate community events such as resource fairs and veteran’s events to raise awareness of VMC’s programs and the services that are provided
- May coordinate and host information sessions and resources sharing/community events
- Conduct follow-up phone calls, emails, and inquiries to agencies and facilities about connecting participants to VMC services
- Post recruitment and event flyers at designated businesses in the Philadelphia area such as libraries, agencies, facilities, community centers, and businesses
- Collaborate with VMC case managers and client services personnel to smoothly transition a participant to appropriate services
