Bachelor's Degree in public relations, marketing or a related field required; supplemented by five years of experience in public relations, communications or marketing to include lead or supervisory experience; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job.

Specific License or Certification Required: Must possess and maintain a valid Georgia driver's license.

Example of Duties

Purpose of Classification:
Develop, implement and measure innovative and informative community outreach and engagement strategies for Fulton County Government. Manage planning and execution of community outreach programs, meetings and events.

Essential Functions:

The following duties are normal for this position. The omission of specific statements of the duties does not exclude them from the classification if the work is similar, related, or a logical assignment for this classification. Other duties may be required and assigned.

Develop and execute innovative outreach and engagement strategies to support Fulton County priorities; work with supervisors and client departments, including elected officials as assigned, to develop and implement community relations strategies and activities.

Serve as Project Manager for a variety of outreach and inreach activities and events; prepare documents including community presentations, event plans, runs of shows, agendas and other event planning documents, and oversee the development of these documents by others.

Plan for, capture and report on outreach & increach performance metrics; prepare tools to measure performance of public meetings & events, including attendance, participant feedback, and other metrics; prepare reports

Develop and manage event budgets and procurement; coordinate with colleagues to arrange for support, including event publicity; including advance media coverage, day-of-media coverage, graphic design, digital and social media.

Monitor community relations best practices and implement new strategies; collaborate with other Fulton County departments on ooutreach and inreach logistics.

Supervise event staff and coordinate with other who part of the event planning process; colloaborate with other Fulton County departments on outreach and inreach strategies and logistics.

Supervises, directs, and evaluates assigned staff: develops and oversees employee work schedules to ensure adequate coverage and control; compiles and reviews timesheets; approves/processes employee concerns and problems and counsels or disciplines as appropriate; assists with or completes employee performance appraisals; directs work; ; ensures that subordinates have the proper resources needed to complete the assigned work; monitors status of work in progress and inspects completed work; acts as a liaison between employees and management; and trains staff in operations, policies, and procedures.

Operates a personal computer to enter, retrieve, review or modify data, utilizing word processing, desktop publishing, spreadsheet, database, presentation, Internet, e-mail, or other software: and operates general office or other equipment as necessary to complete essential functions.

Communicates with County officials and department heads, supervisor, other employees, third party service contractors, , the public, and other individuals as needed to coordinate work activities, review status of work, exchange information, or resolve problems.

Situational Reasoning: Requires the ability to exercise judgment, decisiveness and creativity in situations involving broader aspects of organizational programs and operations, moderately unstable situations, or the direction, control and planning of an entire program or set of programs.
