Community Engagement Specialist

SUMMARY

Interacts with donors, parishes and community partners on behalf of Marisol Family in order to strengthen program relationships and support base; tracks and administers supplies and donations received (especially diapers).


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES


Community & Donor Outreach

  • Coordinates Marisol Family events including baby showers, donor drop-off days, open houses & location tours.

  • Coordinates volunteer appreciation and host parish appreciation efforts.

  • Fosters supporter & donor relationships through correspondence.

  • Works with Director to create donor appreciation initiatives & grow donor engagement.

  • Creates/coordinates creation of flyers/collateral; ensures these items are stocked and up-to-date.

  • Maintains an active social media presence for Marisol Family to raise program awareness/support.

  • Produces monthly to quarterly newsletter for donors and community partners.

  • Maintains a regular schedule of site visits to Marisol Family locations in order to obtain needed content for the above efforts; and stay connected with & immersed in Marisol Family mission.

  • Establishes working relationships with faith-based and community organizations.

  • Seeks opportunities to promote services of Marisol Family at networking events, conferences etc.


Program Support

  • Coordinates Marisol Family participation in Adopt A Family, School Supply, and other Catholic Charities drives.

  • Maintains relevant databases and submits reports.

  • Handles information calls from clients, donors and community partners.

  • Processes Catholic Charities Continuum of Care referrals as needed.

  • Provides direct service to families and individuals as needed at locations; models Marisol Services values in doing so.

  • Organizes volunteers to receive and prepare supplies for distribution (diapers, clothing, baby items etc).

  • Works with BLBD during diaper drives to schedule pick up/drop off of diapers collected.


  • Bachelor’s degree in related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Demonstrated proficiency in administrative procedures

  • Strong writing and communication skills

  • Ability to lead others in an empathetic, collaborative manner

  • Able to collaborate in a parish environment

  • Able to promote and support life-affirming philosophy of client care

  • Knowledge of MS Office Suite

  • Knowledge of the service population’s cultural and socioeconomic characteristics and the appropriate techniques and practices for the client population.

  • Ability to interact effectively as a team member and independently with Agency staff, volunteers and with a diverse client base.

  • Trauma-informed mentality and/or willingness to learn trauma-informed practices.

  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus


EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE


Bachelor’s degree required; 1-2 yrs of marketing, events, or community outreach experience preferred


COMPENSATION & BENEFITS:

Salary: $18-21/hour DOE


Training:
