PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES FOR SUCCESS:
This position ensures that there is local oversight for the operation of community corrections in the 17th Judicial District. The Community Corrections Administrator has a dual role: management of the Community Corrections office's daily operations and providing support to the Community Corrections Board (CCB). Responsibilities include serving as a member of the Criminal Justice Coordinating Council, budgeting the funds received from the State to provide community corrections program services, providing oversight of staff who conduct the appropriate review process for offenders being referred for community corrections placement to ensure local control, coordinating the placement of offenders into the appropriate facility, monitoring contract and state standard compliance, and providing training and coaching to programs.
- Leads diverse, inter-disciplinary professionals with vision, passion, and character while positively contributing as a member of a high-performing team.
- Ensures local oversight for the operation of community corrections, managing daily operations of the division, and providing support to the Community Corrections Board (CCB).
- Creates policies and procedures, develops strategic plans, prepares budgets, monitors compliance, and carries out the priorities of the board/council.
- Stays abreast of criminal and social justice matters, maintains a network of industry experts, attends informative conferences, and pursues evidence-based initiatives.
- Selects, trains, motivates, and evaluates department personnel; provides or coordinates staff training; works with employees to maximize performance; cultivates staff development.
- Negotiates agreements, monitors legislation, reviews reports, and presents before boards, commissions, and councils.
- Serves as the department liaison and resident subject matter expert for criminal justice (CJ) items, and contributes to the CJ community as a speaker, consultant, and educator.
- Evaluates projects and establishes meaningful metrics for community-based outcomes.
- Organizes people, systems, and resources to deliver sustainable and scalable results.
- Assists the Specialist(s) to monitor and audit programs to determine whether the program is in compliance with Community Corrections Board policies and procedures and state standards, and reviews audit reports for publication.
- Acts as the point of contact for and represents the Community Corrections board regarding legislative issues or community corrections program issues including serving on various local and state community corrections committees.
- Evaluates local community corrections polices and recommends modifications.
- Works with the community, County Commissioners, and CEDD to establish new programs/facilities within Adams County, including attending community meetings and drafting requests for proposals.
- Prepares and submits reports to the State, Legislature, and Community Corrections Board.
- Prepares, submits, administers, and manages the annual Community Corrections Department budget utilizing performance-based budgeting strategies including negotiating for additional funds from the State when necessary.
- Performs any other duties as needed to drive the vision, fulfill the mission, and abide by the values of the organization.
This position requires five (5) years of total combined experience from the categories below, with a minimum of one (1) year in a lead or supervisory capacity.
Professional Experience:
- At least three (3) years of administration experience in Criminal Justice, Community Corrections, Public Safety, Social Justice, or a related field.
- One (1) year of demonstrated program and staff oversight as a lead or supervisor.
- Experience working with executive level CJ practitioners preferred.
- Combination of experience in both criminal and social justice preferred.
- Academic Experience:
- None Required. Up to two (2) years towards combined experience for completion of an accredited degree program(s); or, up to one (1) year for demonstrated higher education on a six (6) month basis of full-time enrollment.
- *One semester equals six (6) months; two (2) semesters equal one (1) year. Transcript required.*
- Lived experience includes justice system involvement, incarceration, poverty and homelessness, and/or behavioral health.
- Up to one (1) year towards combined experience for demonstrated lived experience.*

- Must possess, or have the ability to obtain and maintain, a valid Colorado driver's license.
- Possession of, or ability to obtain and maintain, Colorado certification of CCIC/NCIC operation.
