POSITION TITLE: Communications and Training Coordinator
REPORTS TO: President/Chief Executive Officer
STATUS: Full-time, Exempt
RESPONSIBILITIES & KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS: Develop and contribute to the organization’s communications, publications, and media activities. Takes the lead in sharing key messages across multiple communication channels to reach target audiences. Manage and oversee training and technical assistance (T/TA) activities across all NJPCA programs, maintain training records and provide logistic guidance to NJPCA staff. Provide policy support to the President/CEO.
REQUIREMENTS: Bachelors’ degree required. Communications, journalism, marketing, and English majors strongly encouraged to apply.

SKILLS: Excellent oral and written communications skills, effective team building and facilitation skills, ability to communicate organizational values to diverse audiences and represent appropriate ethical values of the organization.
DUTIES INCLUDE:
- Prepare and distribute press releases, media alerts and other communications; coordinate media opportunities, press conferences, etc.
- Develop newsletter articles, op-eds, presentations and conduct individual interviews.
- Develop messages that will be distributed across the organization’s social media suite.
- Produce digital content for the organization’s external websites.
- Draft direct email content, brochures, PowerPoints, flyers, and signage for target audiences.
- Manage and plan trainings, conferences, and annual events.
- Responsible for training evaluation coordination, repository, and NJPCA staff compliance.
- Maintain collaborative relationships with federal, state, and local legislators.
- Provide reports on federal and state legislation, rule-making, and regulations.
- Responsible for communicating with Board members and Center representatives about changes in federal and state policy including sending regular updates and organizing advocacy meetings.
- Responsible for organizing annual U.S. Congressional meetings and the State Legislative Day at the Capitol.
- Strong research skills both from public data sources and from mining internal databases.
- Assist with writing and assembling grant proposals to private sources (i.e. foundations and corporations) and government funding sources.
- Conduct prospect research around new funding sources.
- Develop and maintain funder and donor relationships.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $45,000.00 - $50,000.00 per year
