Compensation: $70,000 to $114,100 (Depends on Experience)

Position Summary
The Commodity Leads are responsible for strategic sourcing of their assigned commodities. The Commodity Lead is expected to work closely with Engineering, Supplier Quality, Manufacturing, and Logistics to evaluate and source suppliers as well as provide a Total Landed Cost projection for their commodities.
Responsibilities
- Work with existing suppliers to improve KPIs including cost, delivery, and quality.
- Identify and contact new suppliers who would good partners for Lightning.
- Develop RFQ packages, coordinate supplier communication across the engineering, quality, manufacturing, and logistics teams.
- Coordinate with the program management team to track progress and provide solutions to meet cost and timing goals.
- Develop sourcing plans to provide Lightning with a market view, key players, and key considerations to be considered during the sourcing process.
- Assess supplier capabilities and fit for Lightning’s goals; assess quotations.
- Perform quotation analysis to understand how the part will be manufactured, the cost drivers behind the specific design, and the manufacturing process.
- Perform strategic analysis of current part design and potential future manufacturing technology that could bring about cost reductions and improve competitiveness.
- Perform an objective and subjective analysis of potential suppliers incorporating the feedback from engineering, quality, manufacturing and logistics.
- Present strategic sourcing decisions to upper management for buy off.
- Manage design changes, cost creep, program changes and prototype build events after sourcing.
- Negotiate Terms & Conditions and Supply Agreements with suppliers.
- Prep the suppliers and parts for handover to Material Planning team.
- Other duties as assigned

What we require:
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or other closely related field; or equivalent work experience in a directly related role
- 2+ years of experience in the automotive, aerospace, train/rail, or appliance industry—demonstrated knowledge of electronics and electrical components is a plus!
- Demonstrated experience negotiating Supply Contracts
- Demonstrated experience analyzing quotes, quote terms, and cost breakdowns
- Microsoft Office Suite proficiency
