POSITION TITLE: College Navigator for One on One Services Temporary
DEPARTMENT: Employment and Transition Services
REPORTS TO: Program Manager, Employment and Transition Services
FLSA: Exempt
Basic Function:
Provide in person support on-campus and at client’s home to one college student with disabilities to help increase independence and help navigate campus, including attending classes and tutoring sessions with the student.
Please note: This is a temporary position with guaranteed work through November 2022. The hourly rate is $15 per hour.
Essential Functions:
- Follow action plan for each semester that addresses the student’s goals as they relate to their independence and college success
- Provide 1:1 coaching to develop and support concrete goals in areas of higher education and independent living to meet the student’s unique needs and encourage independence in all phases of the program
- Help identify potential barriers and problem solve around them with student/family and college staff and other support team members if necessary
- Maintain a supportive environment between the college and student/family
- Advocate for the student, identifying their needs, and help to explain them to college staff
- Maintain on-going documentation including weekly notes and monthly reports
- Communication with program manager including weekly check-ins
- Ability to meet expectations, standards and protocol of work site and referring agency
- Other duties and tasks as assigned.
Non-Essential Functions:
- Performs any other duties and/or tasks that may be assigned on an as needed basis
- Resolves routine administrative problems
Relations with Others:
- Direction is received from the program manager
- Accepts constructive feedback and modifies actions accordingly
- Accepts assignments in a positive and proactive manner
- Interfaces with student, family, disability professionals, and educators
- Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills required
- Able to adapt communication style to effectively communicate with client due to differing communication abilities
Qualifications:
- Associate’s degree preferred, some college experience required
- Experience with young adults with autism preferred
- Knowledge of college resources and systems preferred
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Teams) and Zoom video conferencing preferred
- Passed Background Check
- TB test and health provider – clearance to work note
- Covid 19 Vaccine (Colleges are requiring the vaccine to enter campus

- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Able to work flexible hours; occasional nights may be required
- Ensure accurate administrative reporting as required
- Completes all assigned tasks and projects in a timely and thorough manner
- Ability to relate to student, family and professionals in a positive manner

- Maintain open and effective communication
- Ability to communicate effectively by phone and in person with professionals, parent, and client
- Able to adapt communication style to effectively communicate with client
- Ability to organize projects, prioritize workflow and complete multiple tasks simultaneously and accurately
- Accepts assignments in a positive and proactive manner
- Accepts constructive feedback and modifies actions accordingly
Physical Demands:
- Frequent communicating in person, via video conferencing, via phone, and through e-mail
- Must be able to use various office machines
- Frequent use of computer and telephone
- Frequent sitting, standing and maneuvering

- College campus and client’s home are primary settings for services and may need to report to Easter Seals Offices occasionally
- Exposure to weather conditions consistent with required travel

- Responsible for providing own transportation
