JOB SUMMARY
The Licensed or licensed-eligible Clinician will provide behavioral health services and consultation for clients recently discharged from San Diego County Psychiatric Hospital (SDCPH), as well as offer mental health consultation, assessment, and brief counseling services at the County DUI programs. As the supervisor of the hospital-based team, the Clinician will provide psychoeducation to participants, family members and significant others.

  • Provide clinical oversight to program participants in San Diego Psychiatric Hospital (SDCPH).
  • Provide clinical consultation, guidance, and training to all team members.
  • Provide messages of hope and recovery to participants, family members and significant others
  • Assist team members in providing support, information, and access to needed resources and appropriate services to participants
  • Conduct assessments of high-risk participants, as needed
  • Review participant files and monitor participant progress in achieving their self-identified goals
  • Create daily progress notes for hospital-based participants
  • Supervise community team members regarding clinical matters, documentation, and workflow issues
  • Communicate with community providers to coordinate continuing care of enrolled participants
  • Develop trusting relationships with client and families
  • Create written documentation that is legible, clear, and concise
  • Maintain the distinction between therapeutic and social relationships
  • Maintain positive morale and unit cohesion as evidenced by maintaining a cooperative and flexible attitude toward coworkers, showing adaptability to change, exhibiting effective communication and interpersonal skills, and taking initiative to solve problem
  • Set priorities and react appropriately to emergency situations
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with frequent interruptions
  • Available to be flexible and work weekdays as well as evenings, weekends and holidays as required by contract
  • Comply with all MHS and program rules, policies and procedures including HIPAA standards.

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Possession of a master’s degree or higher in a mental health discipline from an accredited college or university
  • Current licensure as an LCSW, LMFT, LPCC, or Psychologist in the State of California OR registered as ASW, AMFT, APCC with supervisory experience
  • One year of experience working with psychiatric and dually diagnosed populations is preferred
  • Experience conducting professional business in Spanish, Tagalog, Vietnamese, or Arabic is preferred
  • Proficient user of Microsoft Office Suite and EHR software.
  • Ability to problem solve and react appropriately to emergency situations.
  • Ability to work independently and effectively collaborate with a team.
