What you will do:
- Demonstrates a working knowledge of applicable Federal, State and local laws and regulations, the Organizational Integrity Program, Code of Ethics, as well as other policies and procedures.
- Demonstrates an understanding of and adheres to:
- The Trinity Health Standards of Conduct,
- Organizational Integrity Program policies of Trinity Health and MercyOne, particularly those related to specific job duties.
- The systems in place to report Organizational Integrity issues and concerns, including the Four-Step Reporting Process and the Trinity Health Hotline.
- Recruits, hires, trains, supervises, and disciplines personnel consistent with the personnel policies established by MercyOne.
- Assesses, plans, organizes and evaluates the quality of patient care with specific consideration of the age specific, developmental, and cultural needs of the populations served.
- Promotes achievement of best practice in access, technology, service and coordination of information between providers/services.
- Provides leadership in the development, implementation and evaluation of unit/service goals and monitoring outcomes, in order to accomplish strategic objectives and support the mission.
- Defines and maintains the quality standard of clinical practice and care within the hospital and clinics.
- Assists with the development and implementation of policies and procedures that govern the Clinical Service within the hospital and clinic.
- Reviews and monitors work schedules, work hours and duty assignments for all supervised personnel, effects changes as needed.
- Participates on hospital committees and serves as a consultant to other departments as requested.
- Collaborates with physicians regarding the clinical aspects of care.
- Supervises all clinical departments on a regular basis and initiates corrective action and follow-up.
- Maintains and directs a staff education program for orientation and skill training for personnel
- Consults with pharmacists, Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee and medical staff concerning control and administration of medications and ensures that nursing personnel are made knowledgeable and kept current on medications in the formulary .
- Coordinates and conducts monthly staff meetings.
- Ensures sufficient supplies are ordered and maintained for efficient operations of the clinical areas.
- Assists with the development of the Community Health Care Delivery System. Maintaining good relations in the community and with other providers.
- Reviews and files variance reports, does follow-up as necessary and provides summary to the Safety Committee each month or as requested.
- Coordinates Basic Life Support, Advanced Cardiac Life Support, Pediatric Advanced Life Support and TNCC classes and recertification for staff whose position requires this certification.
- Develops and updates the orientation program for all levels of nursing.
- Is responsible for creating an environment of organizational learning about patient safety and medical/health care error reduction, supports sharing of knowledge, and fosters behavioral changes to improve patient safety.
What we are looking for:
- Must be a registered nurse maintaining current state licensure. BSN degree preferred.
- Requires a minimum of 2 years healthcare experience in an acute care setting .
- Working knowledge of Federal, State, Joint Commission and other external agency regulations and requirements in the areas of responsibility required.
- Human relation and communication skills needed to maintain rapport and working relationships with medical staff, administration, department personnel, external agencies, patients and their families.
- Ability to organize work, detail oriented and thorough.
- Must be self-directed, able to work and make decisions independently.
- Must have analytical skills and is knowledgeable and skilled in applying the methodology and tools of continuous quality improvement.
- Ability to resolve difficult situations through negotiation and consensus building skills required.
