Clinical Dietician

Position is a Clinical Dietitian located at Central Prison Healthcare Complex in Raleigh, which houses approximately 1318 close custody male offenders.
The primary purpose of the Medical Dietitian position is to assess the nutritional status of offenders and make recommendations to provider regarding optimal medical nutrition therapy. The following is a summary/list of responsibilities:
- Will complete nutrition assessment of the offender and counsel on therapeutic diet compliance.
- Will provide nutrition in-services to food service and medical staff.
- Will serve as the liaison between Food Management and the Medical Departments, assuring therapeutic diet orders are written per the DAC – Prisons policy as well promoting accurate implementation of therapeutic diets.
This is a full-time position (40 hours per week) with State Benefits.

The salary grade for this position is MH12. State employees are encouraged to apply for positions of interest even if the salary grade is the same as, or lower than, their current position. If selected for this position, a new salary will be recalculated taking into consideration the quantity of relevant education and experience, funding availability, and internal equity. Based upon these factors, a pay increase MAY result.
About the NC Dept. of Adult Correction (DAC):
The Dept. of Adult Correction is responsible for the care, custody, and supervision of all adults sentenced after conviction for violating North Carolina laws. This department includes State Prisons with custody, healthcare, and facility operations staff as well as the division of Community Supervision. Other divisions include Administration, Compliance & Accreditation, Comprehensive Health Services, Internal Affairs & Intelligence Operations, Post-Release Supervision & Parole Commission, and Rehabilitation & Reentry.

To qualify for this position, applicants must document on the application that they possess ALL* of the following:*

Demonstrated knowledge of Medical Nutrition Therapy and how it relates to chronic disease;
- Documented proficiency in assessing nutritional status
- Demonstrated ability to develop workshops and in-service including research, organizing agendas, developing handouts, presenting programs and evaluating program outcomes.
Management Preferences:
- Prior experience working as a Clinical Dietitian in a correctional or institutional type setting.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
A Master's degree in foods and nutrition or a related area from an appropriately accredited institution that is accredited by:
- Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics (ACEND) of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics

Current registration, in good standing, administered by the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR)* Registered Dietician.*

Bachelor's degree in foods and nutrition, dietetics, or related areafrom an appropriately accredited institution that is:
- Accredited by the Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics (ACEND) of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics
-AND-
Current registration, in good standing, administered by the Commission of Dietetic Registration (CDR) Registered Dietician.

two years of experience in a clinical dietary setting;

An equivalent combination of education and experience.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $47,959.00 - $71,938.00 per year
