CANDIDATE PROFILE:

Latino Network seeks a bilingual, mission-driven professional with bicultural proficiency and proven experience in developing curricula, training and implementation of community health programming, including professional and lived experience. The Coordinator will work collaboratively with team members internally and with key partners externally to develop and update curricula, coordinate and implement community health worker training and programming.

The Coordinator must have experience developing and updating curricula, conducting staff and community trainings, an excellent understanding of implementing program development best practices, knowledge and background in popular education methodology. They will work closely with the Health and Wellness Program Manager as well as other staff across the organization to coordinate the development, implementation and evaluation aspects of the programs. The Coordinator will be self-motivated, have excellent communication and facilitation skills, be able to implement complex projects, develop timelines, and promote Latino Network’s vision and mission.

POSITION DESCRIPTION:

This position will support the success of the Health and Wellness Programs, by developing curricula and coordinating CHW trainings for agency staff and external community members. The job will include updating the 90 hour CHW curriculum, creating continuing education classes, seeking OHA certification, providing training using popular education methodology, coordination of program implementation, data entry, and attending meetings with external partners.

This position requires excellent follow through; high attention to detail; professional writing skills; and excellent communication through in person meetings, phone, e-mail, and group communication with Latino Network community partners, staff, and program participants.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Carries out program implementation plans, including logistics, coordinating with other teams and departments within Latino Network and with external partners, outreach and recruiting, and data collection.
  • Contributes to regularly updating curriculum and obtaining OHA certification.
  • Develops new content for continuing education classes
  • Trains and supports staff and community members in their learning of our culturally-specific CHW model.
  • Coordinates with Health and Wellness Program Manager, program directors, and community-based staff, as well as external partners to plan the logistics for implementing the curriculum.
  • Implements program specific evaluation and assessment plans developed in-house or with program partners, including inputting data into multiple databases.
  • Connects with other similar community-based programs and key community leaders to learn from and/or collaborate, if appropriate.
  • Documents program practices and methods for program sustainability.
  • Provides information for program updates and reports as necessary for funders.
  • Attends relevant local conferences and trainings to inform best practices.
  • Establishes a safe environment where participants are encouraged and supported in the development and strengthening of social, leadership,and behaviors using a popular education lense.
  • Interrupts negative behaviors and language regarding gender, sexual orientation, violence, etc. firmly, compassionately and without stigmatizing participants.
  • Demonstrates leadership to ensure conduct, safety, accountability, and development of participants.
  • Works collaboratively in a team environment with a spirit of cooperation.
  • Maintains punctual, regular and predictable attendance.
  • Respectfully takes direction from the supervisor.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Requirements:

By nature of our service to K-12 school districts, this position is subject to the Oregon Health Authority (OHA) mandate requiring all employees to provide proof of COVID-19 vaccination or qualification for a medical or religious exemption.   • Community Health Worker certification OR have held this certification within the last three years OR is in the process of obtaining certification; AND
  • Two years coordinating relevant community health programs and two years training colleagues, preferably in the CHW model
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills in Spanish and English required
  • Demonstrated experience implementing training and community workshops using popular education methodology.
  • Demonstrated outcomes in developing and implementing health and wellness programming for youth and adults, preferably for Latinos
  • Knowledge of culturally based world view, adaptive reasoning, and problem solving practices of Latino individuals, families, and community living in urban neighborhoods impacted by crime, poverty, and racial inequity
  • Knowledge of, or willingness to learn about trauma informed care and strengths-based practices
  • Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with schools, students, families, and other community partners
  • Ability to maintain discretion with regards to confidential matters and maintain confidential records.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and manage time while prioritizing tasks to meet key organizational deadlines.
  • Ability to be flexible and adaptive to successfully achieve the functions of the position as described in the job responsibilities.
  • Takes initiative and maintains proactive communication.
  • Strong attention to detail, organizational and interpersonal skills.
  • Employee service mindset, resourceful, outcomes-oriented and able to build strong relationships.
  • Successful completion of initial and ongoing employment screens, including but not limited to criminal background and vehicle record as required.

  • Temporarily working remotely during Covid-19 related office use restrictions in place. Ability to report to physical in person work location including office and in the community (schools, churches, parks, community centers, etc.) as needed.
  • Evening and weekend availability required. Work hours are flexible to accommodate program implementation; long hours during peak periods.
