Pillar Health, a division of Kenosha Community Health Center, is looking for Full Time or Part Time Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist to work in its new location!

POSITION SUMMARY

As a member of the medical and behavioral health team, triage, diagnose, and manage child and adolescent patients with behavioral health problems. Conduct medical evaluations and prescribe treatment. Provide consultative support and assistance to the primary care clinicians, mental health clinicians and their patients. Conduct short term goal therapies and treatment oriented modalities. Facilitate training of patient skills through psycho- and patient- education strategies for specific behavioral changers. Provide brief crisis intervention and support medical and psychosocial intervention. Participate in developing programs to address medical issues that need strong behavioral health intervention.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

The list of duties and responsibilities is not all inclusive and may be expanded to include other duties and responsibilities, as management may deem necessary from time to time.

· Initial screening and intake (mental health assessment) to determine appropriate level of mental health care. Accurately record patient mental health history, progress notes, and referrals in medical record according to protocol.

· Assist patients in managing a chronic medical condition or an invasive procedure.

· Assist in the detection of “at risk” patients and prevent further psychiatric or physical deterioration.

· Provide consultative support to primary care and mental health clinical team to effectively and efficiently treat, manage, and counsel patients with mild, moderate severe and/or chronic psychiatric, chronic pain, and related psychosocial issues that exacerbate/complicate co-occurring health issues.

· Assist patients in prevention of relapse in conditions that tend to become chronic.

· Evaluate patient care plans with primary care team.

· Provide educational information and strategies to staff and patients for mental health management, coping, and self-care.

· Improve clinical outcomes with high prevalence of mental disorders.

· Identify problems related to patient services and make recommendations for improvement.

· Participate in evaluation of peers and support staff.

· Develop a structure for group educational class sessions emphasizing patient education and self-management.

· Participate in patient case review process.

· Provide psychiatric evaluations/testing.

· Attend and participate in meetings and Quality Improvement activities as required.

· Provide supervision services to behavioral health department as needed

· Conduct clinical interviews with clients and relatives in order to elicit information regarding attitudes, social background, developmental history, and other psychiatrically relevant material.

· Assist clients in exploring and gaining an insight into their personality and emotional difficulty, helping them resolve their conflicts, and arriving at more effective ways of coping with their environment.

· Determine, administer, and score the appropriate tests and diagnostic procedures to be used.

· Perform psychotherapeutic counseling to group, family and individual situations as needed.

· Prepare reports including diagnoses, prognoses, and other findings of Psychiatric relevance to the disposition or treatment of cases, making referrals when appropriate.

· Establish a good working relationship with patients and team members.

· Attend and address meetings of professional and lay groups as needed.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

Educational and/or Experience

  • Current and valid board certification in psychiatry
  • Board eligible or board certified, medical degree from an accredited medical school
  • Completion of an approved psychiatric residency
  • Completion of child residency
  • Licensed to practice medicine in Wisconsin
  • Current DEA registration
  • Familiar with crisis assessment tools and techniques
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills

WORK SCHEDULE

Availability to work a minimum of 40 hours during clinic operating hours, Monday – Thursday, 7am – 7pm, Friday, 7am – 5pm and rotating Saturdays 7am – 3pm.
