Chemist II - 1st Shift Job at Hawker Pacific Inc.
Hawker Pacific Aerospace, Sun Valley, CA is seeking Chemist II to support its Plating department. Selected applicant will be responsible for performing analysis on plating solutions and calculate additions. Perform samplings of hazardous waste. Perform simple metallurgical tests.
This position may be assigned to one or more departments depending upon the company needs at the time.
Essential Duties
This individual has the responsibility and authority to carry out assigned task. May be assigned some or all duties indicated below depending on job progression level.
Analyze Chrome Solutions on a weekly or bi-weekly basis as needed.- Analyze Sulfates in Chrome Solutions on a weekly or bi-weekly basis as needed.
- Analyze Trivalent chrome in Chrome Solutions on a weekly or bi-weekly basis as needed.
- Perform Hydrogen Detection Instrument tests as required by specifications.
- Maintain all supplies required to perform testing of the Plating Baths.
- Work with Plating Technician to maintain quality of chrome, nickel and cadmium deposits.
- Work with Plating Technicians to ensure quality of work from chromate treatment, chemical film, passivation and nital etch.
- Perform all test required by specification on the other Plating Baths.
- Perform metallurgical tests required by specifications.
- Maintain Performance Board for the Laboratory Processes.
- Interface with suppliers, vendors, EPA and CUPA.
- Analyzing and optimizing existing manufacturing processes to improve overall quality, efficiency and reduce waste.
- Helping implement new chemical processes into manufacturing by translating processes from a lab environment to full scale production.
- Providing technical support to the company as a whole.
- Develop viable manufacturing processes.
- Research manufacturing processes for new and existing products.
- Develop optimized plant processes.
- Work in full compliance with EH&S policies and the company code of conduct.
- Provided detailed written and verbal reports.
- Work closely with colleagues in manufacturing to resolve any production issues. Adhere to all the rules, regulations, and safety guidelines.
- Responsibility to work with LEAN Manufacturing principles.
- Performs other duties as required by business needs.
Education: Bachelor’s degree required. Master’s degree preferred.
Certification/Licensure: Hydrogen Detection Instrument (HDI).
Experience: 2-6 years’ experience in chemistry and in the Landing Gear and Maintenance Repair & Overhaul (MRO) industry.
