Spur, the K-12 substitute management and staffing partner of Griffin-Spalding County Schools, is looking for enthusiastic and approachable individuals to fill substitute Bus Aide Monitor positions in Griffin Spalding County Schools (GA). The ideal candidate for the job would enjoy working with exceptional students. Substitutes are expected to be punctual and professional. The Basic Function of this job is to ride a school bus, assist exceptional children, assist the school bus driver in managing student behavior while the bus is in operation, and possibly operate a mechanical lift. Candidates must always follow the school's processes and procedures. Position schedules will be based on the school/bus route's standard schedule. Candidates must be able to work on an on-call basis.

Duties:

• Assisting exceptional children on and off the bus; escort children across street upon return home, lift children if required, assure responsible adult meets students leaving the bus
• Operate equipment, including wheelchairs, tie downs, seat belts, harnesses of mechanical lift and other adaptive equipment as necessary
• Assist driver in assuring seat belts, harnesses and wheelchair clamps are secured as required
• Assist parents and school personnel with safe loading and unloading of students, coordinate seating of exceptional students as required by the state
• Ability to communicate in a polite and professional manner
• Able to work on on-call basis
• Prior related experience working with children
• The ability to lift or move students if necessary
• Maintain confidentiality in regards to student information

Minimum Qualifications:

• Must be 21 years of age
• High School diploma or GED
• Able to pass a criminal history background check through FieldPrint ($50.00 one time fee)
• Ability to comply with written and/or oral instructions
• Proficiency in maintaining bus atmosphere and maintain emotional control under stress

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience in working with exceptional students
