Hillman Beer produces and sells a variety of high quality, finely crafted beers that can be enjoyed at home, in the community or at our brewpub where the atmosphere is lively, warm, comfortable, and where community is celebrated. Individuals applying for this position should have at least 1 year in a hospitality leadership position.
POSITION SUMMARY:
40+ Hours per Week $50,000 - $60,000 per year plus performance based bonuses
Reports Daily: General Manager
The Assistant General Manager will assume the responsibility of improving our level of service to enhance profitability which includes maximization of guest satisfaction and staff development within established SOP’s and quality standards. The Assistant General Manager will promote sales activity to maintain and increase occupancy while maintaining the brewery in an efficient and cost-effective manner maximizing guest satisfaction and profitability. This position performs to the benefit of and as a steward of the brand while exhibiting and building the Hillman Beer culture. Exceptional organization, time management, problem solving, and interpersonal skills are major components of this position. This position reports directly to the General Manager.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- The primary role of the Assistant General Manager is the oversight and maximization of all aspects of the guest experience and ensuring guest satisfaction while serving as assistant to the General Manager.
- Focus on guest experience including but not limited to speed of bar service, speed of kitchen ticket times, and speed of food delivery times consistent with company policies and brand standards.
- Focus on taproom atmosphere including but not limited to temperature, lighting, music choice and volume, seating, animal, sound and smell disturbances and cleanliness consistent with company policies and brand standards.
- Taking proactive measures to prevent customer complaints or issues related to food quality and consistency.
- Provide continual training to front of house staff to ensure speedy and efficient customer flow and prevention of uneven or unnecessarily long lines.
- Requiring even task distribution among front of house staff to ensure adequate table touching, food running, cleaning and table bussing.
- Diligently works toward overall profitability and sales growth by collecting, creating and examining all appropriate documents to find cost savings and inefficiencies in all aspects of operations then creating solutions to meet company standards and goals.
- Prepares and submits operational and financial statements to the General Manager.
- Ensure management team financial goals and metrics align with daily operations.
- Ensure accurate payroll accounting including tipshare and tip distribution as required.
- Monitors comps, voids, refunds and employee benefits to ensure alignment with financial goals and metrics.
- Performs business forecasting and planning for upcoming sales periods to ensure proper staffing and inventory levels.
- Will develop an exemplary customer service culture that creates a memorable experience that our guests seek to repeat again and again by meeting the highest standards of service, cleanliness and speed of service.
- Effectively responds to customer feedback in a timely manner with an outcome of customer satisfaction.
- Leads the team in an open, positive and approachable manner the Assistant General Manager monitors the service and performance of the team and is able to anticipate guests needs in order to proactively and effectively ensure guests total satisfaction.
- Assist the General Manager in developing and maintaining a high-quality workforce by participating in interviews, taking corrective action when necessary and leading training efforts to ensure staff productivity and efficiency.
- Develop and maintain a safe and welcoming culture for all members of Hillman Beer that aligns with not only Hillman Beers values and identity but also the values of the community we serve.
- Participate in the daily success and growth of the Hillman Beer management team with scheduled meetings, development plans and continuous coaching and training.
- Maintain and train Hillman Beer management team on financial and operational goals.
- Recruit, train and retain the best employees the industry has to offer. Treat people with respect, inspire the trust of others while being a role model and leader that others desire to follow. Participate in hiring, firing and performing employee evaluations.
- Provides continuous training, coaching, support, recognition and encouragement to motivate staff members to grow personally and professionally within our organization.
- Forecast then creates and manages staff schedules and time-off requests.
- Assists in the creation, maintenance and adherence to company SOP’s, operations manuals and other procedures.
- Ensures adequate food and beverage prep and ticket times.
- Responsible for a working knowledge of kitchen operations including all checklists, prep lists, order guides as well as menu item and prep item recipes to ensure compliance with company quality and SOP standards.
- Uses company approved order guides to maintain adequate front of house inventory levels to prevent out of stock situations.
- Ensures restaurant equipment preventive and routine maintenance schedules are met.
- Ensure taproom beverage and merchandise inventory are sufficient to prevent out of stock situations.
- Performs all administrative duties in an accurate and timely manner including but not limited to daily cash controls and paperwork, weekly inventory and paperwork, period ending paperwork and staff scheduling.
- Performs immediate notifications to operations manager and ownership team as directed.
- Monitors and ensures all OSHA, local health, fire, operational, human resource and safety compliances are met to provide a safe environment for customers and staff. Ensure local health inspection score of 98 or greater.
- Assists in the planning and execution of on and off site promotional events, staff days and other events as required.
- Effectively responds to peer, employee and management feedback.
- Maintains a professional image and collaborative attitude at all times.
- Works to promote a positive relationship between the front of house and back of house.
- Ensures merchandise display area is clean, organized, fully stocked and all merchandise is presented in an attractive manner.
- Manages service contracts with vendors, contractors and on-site entertainment.
- Willingness to travel when necessary, has reliable transportation.
- Additional responsibilities may be assigned including but not limited to marketing, and social media management and implementation, driving company vehicles, coordinating and participating in staff appreciation days.
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
High School Diploma or GED required; College Degree preferred.
Restaurant Management 1+ years or 3+ years in a hospitality leadership role required.
High Volume Restaurant experience preferred.
Proven track record of leadership and management skills.
Understanding and appreciation of Craft Beer.
Valid Driver License (Must be willing to obtain Class C License)

Full-Time position requiring hours typical of this industry, 40+ hours per week
Requires long periods of standing on hard surfaces and lifting up to 75lbs, occasionally in hot humid temperatures.
Ability to learn accounting principles and financial reports.
Read, analyze and interpret general business documents.
Experience with spreadsheets and word processing apps, Google Sheets, Docs, Word, Excel etc. Illustrator and Quickbooks are a plus.
Act as point of contact for all staffing coverage issues.
Ability to pass a background screening.
