Blood Bank Supervisor Job at Lawrence General Hospital
As the Blood Bank Supervisor, you will manage, organize, and direct the daily activities of the technical department to provide quality results for safe patient care.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- You will provide oversight of all Quality Control (QC), Quality Management (QM), Validations, Correlations, Proficiency testing and Linearity studies.
- Support training, competency, and proficiency of technical staff. All training is documented per regulatory requirements. Competency is assessed initially, after 6 months and annually.
- Promotes a positive, team spirited, customer focused image to staff, patients, and vendors.
- Provides direct observation, annual performance preview, annual competency assessment, and counseling for all assigned staff, within prescribed timeframes, to meet standards as necessary and in conjunction with the laboratory director and core lab supervisor.
- Performs manual and automated analysis and specialized procedures on various blood and body fluids. Interprets results and QC studies to ensure reliable result reporting.
- Notifies Physician of unexpected or additional findings based on LIS system documentation.
- Provides oversight of inventory management and procurement
- Troubleshoots analyzers and instrumentation to prevent any delay in patient care.
- Provides access to assigned staff for consultation and determines operational troubles in a timely manner.
- Establishes, executes, reviews, and evaluates laboratory policies and procedures for all technical aspects of the department.
- Assists the laboratory administrative and medical director with tasks related to the general operation of the laboratory.
- Accepts administrative responsibility for entire lab when assigned.
Required:
- Satisfactory completion of an MT Program with a bachelor’s degree.
- Must possess MT(ASCP) certification or equivalent.
- Minimum 3 years clinical laboratory experience.
- Training/Experience acceptable to the Laboratory Director that meets accreditation requirements will be considered.
Preferred:
- A master’s degree and specialty certification in respective discipline
Location: Lawrence General Hospital · Laboratory
Schedule: 40 hours, 7:00am - 3:30pm
