Job Description
Brown Advisory is currently seeking a dynamic individual to fill our Baltimore Operating Officer position. This individual would assist with the daily management of the Baltimore office which includes operations, strategic planning, cultural leadership, and general office management.
This person would ensure that our Baltimore office has adequate internal operational controls, administrative and reporting procedures, personnel, and systems in place to effectively support our colleagues, grow the business, and ensure financial strength and operational efficiency. Reporting to a member of the firm’s Executive Team, this individual will work closely with senior leaders within the business and across the infrastructure teams to advance projects and support the business’ needs. The successful candidate must be a self-starter, highly organized, have a hands-on approach, understands how to deliver quality service, possess an ability to assist in driving strategy across a broad organization and have a passion for teaming and collaboration to drive solutions.
The primary duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Ensuring smooth operations of all functions to streamline efficiency across the Baltimore office – liaison with key groups includes: Private Client, Institutional, Technology, Legal & Compliance, Accounting & Finance, Messaging, Facilities and Human Resources
- Partnering with leaders and colleagues to manage office redesign efforts
- Identifying opportunities to bring colleagues together to enhance our overall office culture
- Communicating business changes to the rest of the firm: e.g. new strategies/changes, new capabilities, personal changes, etc.
- Managing projects with key stakeholders in the Baltimore Office
- Ensuring successful completion of projects and special assignments
- Serving as strong change agent for new processes, policies, technologies, etc., within Baltimore office
- Communicating with, and traveling to other offices (as needed) to learn best practices
Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree required
- Must be able to work out of Brown Advisory’s Baltimore office
- Minimum of 5+ years of relevant experience; ideally within a financial services firm
- Demonstrated experience leading and driving complex operational and strategic initiatives
- Demonstrated experience working in a cross-functional, fast-paced environment
- Previous supervisory experience preferred but not required
- Ability to demonstrate strong analytical expertise, a relationship building mentality, and unconditional willingness to help colleagues solve problems
- Ability to listen and provide thoughtful guidance and advice to clients and colleagues
- Ability to organize, manage and prioritize multiple projects
- Evaluates complex business problems, determines solutions
- Ability to make effective and persuasive presentations to management
- Exhibits “client first” mentality and uncompromising personal integrity
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills – this position will interface with senior leadership on a regular basis
- Self-motivated and team player
