Audit Professional – Public Accounting

Our firm is located in the northwest suburbs of Chicago, with approximately 35 employees. We provide audit, tax, accounting (including outsourcing), and consulting services. The nature of some of our clients' businesses, while all are privately-held, can be complex, and the services and challenges can mirror those typically found at much larger CPA firms. While our clients are largely in the Chicago area, many business clients have operations throughout the U.S., and we have a number of foreign-owned entities with U.S. subsidiaries. We believe in personal responsibility, but we stress collegiality and support in a team environment. Our staff members have very competitive pay and benefits. The ideal candidate will have strong skills in running and managing an audit from planning to completion, and will be detail-oriented but will understand the big picture as well. The ideal candidate will have the ability to self-start and self-motivate, as well as work in a team environment. Strong communication skills are important, as client exposure will be the norm, including an understanding that client communications of all types must be responded to quickly, accurately, and professionally. Some basic exposure (or desire to learn) about corporate, partnership and individual income taxes is helpful in servicing our business clients. A candidate will likely have at least 5 full years of professional experience. A desire to continue professional growth is key, as is the ability to relate to others and to contribute to a learning environment. The successful candidate will become part of our management team, with potential for partnership-level consideration.

This is a perfect position for a manager or soon-to-be manager who is finding it difficult to advance or be appreciated at a larger firm. This is also a great position for an audit partner who needs more professional support. Politics do not get in the way of promotions at our firm. We look at performance and commitment. We have a history of promoting from within, and many of our partners are the result of internal promotions. This position will offer unlimited upward mobility. This position will require minimal travel outside of the Chicago area.

Job Responsibilities

• Plan and perform financial statement audit engagements
• Client communications and interactions with client decision-makers
• Financial statement preparation
• Interpreting results to the client and offering value-added insights
• Direct and manage support personnel
• Interactions and coordination with audit partners
• Coordinate with other services provided to the client, like tax or consulting

Qualifications

• CPA required; other designations helpful (CFE, etc.)
• 5+ years in public accounting
• Experience managing attest engagements
• Serving and thriving in a team environment
• Evidence and dedication of on-time performance

Pay: $95,000.00 - $150,000.00 per year
