Associate Director, Strategy Job at WONGDOODY
WONGDOODY seeks an Associate Director, Strategy with strong expertise within retail, to work one of our flagship retail clients. This strategist will help ensure the brand is represented across the agency's body of work and help to translate the ever-changing world of retail into actionable insights. In addition, this candidate will help to evolve the agency's POV on retail consumer behavior and the integration of emerging technologies into the shopping experience.
The ideal candidate has worked in-house or at an agency on brand and consumer strategy with retail experience or clients a plus. This candidate is also equally comfortable guiding creative teams and leading clients. This role can be based in Seattle, WA or Los Angeles, CA.
What you'll do:
- Partner with internal client team to support account strategy needs and create internal briefing materials for creative teams
- Proactively analyze retail trends in order to identify, communicate, and capitalize on marketing opportunities across platforms, audiences, creative, and technologies
- Partner closely with cross-functional teams including Strategy, Creative, and Production to execute campaigns in support of awareness, consideration, and purchase KPIs
- Create and lead retail presentations including shopper behavioral trends specifically affecting the client's category and retail footprint
- Assist broader Commerce team with new business pitches and acquisitions within the retail category
- Exhibit leadership to help broader client team understand emerging technologies within the retail landscape as well as larger consumer trends from social, popular culture and international markets
- Lead client presentations on relevant subjects and help to influence internal client stakeholders for successful sell-thru of retail initiatives

- Changing Role of Brand: Helping the client and agency understand how brands affect consumer purchase behavior and their changing role in areas such as sustainability and social responsibility
- Shopper + CX Analysis: Understanding changing consumer behaviors in and around retail and how organizations are innovating to address their needs
- Digital Commerce: Recognizing the role of digital as the centerpiece of shopping, buying and fulfillment
- Omni-channel Strategy: Creating connected experiences to help shoppers overcome barriers to purchase
- Marketplaces: Working with extensions of the traditional retail landscape including social, peer-to-peer and retailer marketplaces
What you're like:

What you've got:
- Strong Expertise in one or more of the 5 Retail Experience Areas listed above
- 7-10 years inbound/creative/retail strategy - agency or client-side environment
- 5+ years focused on retail marketing
- Strong understanding of people and customers as well as well as their associated needs, motivation and behaviors relevant to retail
- Strategic mindset with a data-driven approach and a strong drive for results
- Positive attitude with an ability to work independently as well as collaboratively
- Proven ability to successfully manage internal and external partner relationships
- Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills – Experience and comfort presenting both clients and internal teams
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, or Retail-related disciplines preferred
- A sense of humor!
