Community & Behavioral Health (CBH) promotes population health and health equity by developing, implementing, and evaluating sustainable, evidence-based public health policies, interventions, and systems. The Division conducts multiple types of health-related assessments; creates, implements and evaluates the City’s Community Health Improvement Plan (CHIP); and develops policies and initiatives aimed at improving the health of Denver residents while advancing equity at all levels. The Denver Office of HIV Resources (DOHR) resides within the Division of Community Health and administers Ryan White CARE Act funds. DOHR provides funding in various service categories to provide a comprehensive continuum of care for people living with HIV/AIDS. CBH has an opening for an Associate Analyst – Research and Evaluation. This position will be responsible for data management, descriptive reporting, and support for evaluation activities for a wide breadth of CBH programs. Duties may include, but will not be limited to, identification of data needs; development of data systems and reporting; and collaborative evaluation design and data collection processes.
This position will be integral to CBH evaluation and planning activities, which support the evidence-based development and impact of CBH programs. This position will be responsible for identification and analysis of information and data related to CBH programs and priorities; providing technical assistance and support to program staff; and dissemination of knowledge to leadership and program staff. The position will actively assist CBH and partners in working to achieve greater health equity for disproportionally impacted populations.
Job duties and responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to, the following:
  • Manage data sets for CBH and program teams. Understand and select from community data sets. Develop data collection instruments and documentation. Collect and code data. Conduct cleaning and quality assurance checks.
  • Participate in and act as a consultant to colleagues on continuous quality improvement, monitoring, and program development, for instance, through development of logic models, consideration of equity and data methods, and other tools to evaluate effectiveness and find opportunities for development.
  • Analyze and integrate data from multiple primary and secondary sources. Perform descriptive statistical analyses. Contribute to research and evaluation activities, which may include mixed methods data collection, management, and analysis.
  • Develop charts, figures, and narrative for briefs and reports. Use automated systems and tools to support reporting and communication, which may include development and maintenance of databases and dashboards.
  • Along with all department staff, this position will actively participate on an emergency preparedness and response team to support DDPHE’s responsibilities outlined in the City’s Emergency Operations Plan. This may require being ‘on-call’ from time to time to help respond to emergencies. Additional training commensurate with assigned duties will be provided.

  • Education requirement: Bachelor's Degree in Public Health, Environmental Health, or in a related field based on a specific position.
  • Experience Requirement: One (1) year of professional experience conducting research and analysis on a variety of environmental or public health issues or conducting environmental or public health inspections and investigations to ensure compliance with regulations and standards.
  • Education/Experience Equivalency: One (1) year of the appropriate type and level of experience may be substituted for each required year of post-high school education.
  • License/Certifications: None.
