JOB STATUS: Full-time (at least 37.5 hours/week)
PRIMARY PURPOSE/ POSITION SUMMARY:
The Assistant Director of Student Engagement (ADSE) will provide campus-wide programming that fosters student success and engagement through collaborative partnerships with faculty, departments, student organizations/leaders and community partners. The ADSE will assist in establishing strategic goals that support student development and engagement with a focus on the needs of a diverse student body and work collaboratively with the Student Success and Engagement division to support the success of all students through initiatives for timely completion, completion with a purpose, and skill building. As a member of the Student Success and Engagement Division, the ADSE will collaborate with colleagues to identify and remove institutional obstacles to student success and engagement and support the success of all students.

JOB COMPONENTS/PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Programming
- Develop a holistic programming model that supports the division of Student Success & Engagement vision. Support the implementation of the programming model across divisional student leadership groups. Assess program effectiveness.
- Chair the Divisional Programming committee that is responsible for the creation of a holistic, inclusive programming calendar, creating experiences that intersect curricular, co-curricular, and extra-curricular learning for students.
- Serve as a resource and liaison with other University departments regarding opportunities for partnership and program development.
- Manage the programming budget.
- Support Coordinator of Student Engagement, graduate assistants, and student leaders in the planning and implementation of programs.
- Negotiate contracts with agents, vendors, and performers while maintaining University policies and guidelines; serve as a signor of contracts for event planning in Student Life and for student organizations.
- Serve as a member of the Orientation Planning Team and take lead role on Welcome Weekend activities including DU Fest.
Student Space Management
- Coordinate hours, usage, and staff for The Underground, a student recreation space
- Manage equipment used in The Underground to ensure students have functional machines and gaming tables
- Plan special events to best utilize The Underground as a key student space on campus
Administrative Responsibilities
- Oversee the Student Involvement Resource Center (SIRC), including management of resources, supplies and budget alongside Student Engagement Graduate Assistant
- In conjunction with the Communications Specialist, plan and execute marketing for programs and other student organization sponsored activities
- Serve as the primary administrator and liaison for EngageDU system
- Advance the University and the Division of Student Success & Engagement’s strategic plan for student success through participation in goal setting, program implementation, committee/task force work and assessment efforts.
- Attend meetings on a weekly/biweekly basis including, but not limited to: staff meetings, professional development sessions, staff meetings, committee meetings, and meetings with students and supervisors.
Student Organization Support
- Oversee all student club and organization operations through oversight of Coordinator of Student Engagement
- Manage and support students seeking to start new student organizations
- Develop and provide resources for student organization advisors to promote student organization success.
- Develop/provide resources for student organizations to promote student organization success
Staff Supervision
- Hire, train, supervise, and evaluate Coordinator of Student Engagement, Graduate Assistants, SIRC workers, Underground workers, and other student leaders
- Meet regularly with supervisees on an individual and group basis.
Perform other duties as requested, delegated or assigned.

Education and Experience:
Master’s degree in college student personnel, higher education or related field required.
2 years of programming, event management, student life or student development experience required. Supervisory experience preferred.
