The Wisconsin Veterans Home at Chippewa Falls provides compassionate and professional long-term, skilled nursing care to veterans and spouses who cannot be cared for in their homes.

Nursing Manager/Infection Preventionist Responsibilities:

• Provides assistance and guidance to other members of the interdisciplinary team in developing member care plans
• Performs physical and psychological nursing assessments when necessary
• Demonstrates leadership ability and management skills through fair decision making and reasonable expectations
• Monitors resident progress and maintains high level communication between payer, physician, family, member and clinical team.
• Makes walking rounds between shifts and whenever necessary to supervise and monitor performance in teams of member care, staff regulations and efficiency of service.
• Regularly attends and provides input at leadership and all staff meetings in conjunction with the DON

• Participates and assists with coaching and ongoing educations of nursing personnel to meet resident care needs and ensures compliance with professional standards and regulatory compliance.

• Assists with investigations of all member concerns and incidents and identifies root cause(s) in a timely and complete manner; implement intervention to safeguard the member; completes required documentation; and reports incidents in accordance with regulations and standards of practice.

• Audits systems to monitor compliance with regulations.
• Ensures that safety and infection control practices are followed by all staff throughout the shift.
• Develops and monitors infection control standards for the facility and educates staff on the standards.
• Participates in the interviewing, hiring, and orientation of new nursing staff.
