Under the leadership and supervision of the Director of Nursing (DON), this Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON) position will assist in the clinical supervision, education, direction, and oversight to Registered Nurses (RNs), Licensed Vocational Nurses (LVNs) and Certified Medical Assistants (CMAs) within all county’s centers and units.
This position will coordinate and monitor the delivery of clinical and nursing Behavioral Health, Crisis Services, Medication Assisted Treatment, Primary Care, Children’s services, and supporting individuals in developmental disabilities programs. The ADON is responsible for the professional nursing work or professional administrative nursing work in all locations within our service area. The ADON will ensure the care and treatment of individuals in accordance with accepted professional, legal and ethical nursing standards are being met by the nursing team.
This ADON will assist in the oversight of infection control processes, internal and external reviews (audits) of agency nursing and medical programs as assigned by the DON for the purposes of quality measurement and improvement. This position will assist as assigned by the DON to be an active participant in clinical and administrative teams supporting quality improvement by enhancing practice and establishing procedures supporting successful implementation of innovative practices and practical approaches to supporting successful accreditation of the system of care.
The ADON is responsible for adhering to all agency policies and procedures. This position must be able to work within a multi-disciplinary team, have the leadership ability to educate, train, lead and support all nursing staff on the nursing team. They must exhibit excellent communication skills both verbally and in writing. This ADON will possess positive leadership and team building skills and be flexible during the work week.

1. Graduated from an accredited school of nursing and licensed as a Registered Nurse in the state of Texas
2. Ability to work collaboratively and be part of a multidisciplinary professional team.
3. Computer literate with working knowledge of Windows/MS office/TEAMS/Outlook 365 applications.
4. Excellent written and oral communication skills
5. Must have a valid Texas Driver’s License and maintain approved driver’s status throughout employment.
Preferred Qualifications:
1.Psychiatric/Mental Health ANCC or CARN nursing certification or the ability to obtain it within 1 year of
assuming this role
2. Bilingual in Spanish or ASL
3. 5 cumulative years of nursing experience in Behavioral Health, Developmental Disabilities, Primary
Care, Medical Surgical, Substance Use, Medication Assistance Treatment, Ambulatory Detox
Treatment, and Crisis Services
4. Forensic experience in jail-based care and with court-ordered services
3. Supervisory experience while working at Bluebonnet Trails Community Services
