Admissions and Recruitment Specialist Job at Beaufort County Community College
The Admissions and Recruitment Specialist is a part-time 12-month staff position that reports to the Director of Admissions and Records. This position provides recruiting assistance in a dynamic academic environment which requires accuracy, efficiency, effectiveness, the ability to work independently, and strong written and oral communication skills. Candidate must have demonstrated evidence of a career that includes the ability to learn and work quickly, flexibility and willingness to change; open-mindedness, fairness and the ability to see multiple perspectives; a willingness to take risks, and willingness to accept responsibility for professional growth and personal growth.

- Associate’s degree from a regionally accredited institution.
- Excellent customer service and computer skills with attention to detail.
- Excellent verbal and written skills, including the ability to communicate clearly and effectively with diverse groups of people.
- Ability to manage multiple activities at once and prioritize effectively.
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, business, or related field
- Colleague system user experience.
- Minimum of 1-2 years work experience in a post secondary or community college system or in a relevant field or setting.
- Work experience in post secondary education in a student services related area or work experience related to customer service within an office environment.
- Career Readiness Certificate (CRC) preferred.

RESPONSIBILITIES

The Admissions and Recruitment Specialist will coordinate all aspects of recruiting and assist with admissions follow up. Specific duties include a recruitment plan to include the following:
- Develops and maintains partnerships with schools in Beaufort, Washington, Hyde, and Tyrrell Counties and builds relationships with high school counselors and administrators to identify opportunities for growth and transitioning students
- Supports outreach and recruitment efforts involving secondary school learners, area workforce partners, and community-based organizations to raise awareness of career opportunities and facilitate registration
- Tracks and follows up with prospective student interests
- Coordinates on campus recruiting events such a Test Drive, College Night, New Student Orientation, etc. and attends off campus recruiting events
- Follows a communication plan to ensure consistent communication with prospective students and community stake holders including high school faculty and staff, parents, workforce partners, local employers, community-based organizations, etc.
- Visits area businesses and industries to discuss educational opportunities with employees and organizes college campus/industry tours
- Responsible for knowledge of information related to High School, Community Colleges, and Universities, policies and procedures as well as information related to community workforce development resources to provide students with timely information and guidance, assisting students in making informed decisions
- Conducts workshops and classroom visits to inform and recruit prospective students
- Performs other job-related duties and projects as assigned in support of the College’s mission, core values and goals

- Participate in professional development activities designed to enhance job skills and knowledge, as agreed upon by employee and supervisor.
- Interact with students, the public, the community, and coworkers in a cooperative, courteous, and professional manner.
- Comply with the college’s policies and procedures as outlined in the Faculty and Staff Policy Manual.
Perform related duties and responsibilities, as assigned by supervisor.
FLSA Non-Exempt Estimated Hours per Week 25-29 hours Range $16.00 - $22.00/hour. Based on the College's salary plan and commensurate with education and relevant work experience.
