Generation Q is an LGBTQ+ Youth program for participants ages 13-18. Regular programming includes but is not limited to tutoring, visual arts, video gaming, D&D, a social justice leadership program, and counseling services.

The ideal candidate will plan and conduct engaging, developmentally appropriate activities that reflect the stated interests of our program participants and are a tool for their overall social, emotional, and personal growth and well-being.

We are looking for activity specialists in a variety of areas, such as Performing Arts, Visual Arts, Design, Technology, or other areas of content expertise.

Primary Responsibilities:*

  • Understand and enforce program expectations, policies, and protocols to ensure a safe and respectful environment in alignment with agency and funder protocols and guidelines
  • Create and implement engaging age-appropriate activity plans and curriculum that adhere to program goals and foster program participant development
  • Collaborate around themes and special projects with program staff
  • Communicate with the supervisor about any schedule and classroom modifications, behavioral or environmental issues
  • Role model and demonstrate appropriate communication with all stakeholders of the program (participants, families, staff, and funders)
  • Assist with the organization and implementation of special events, activities, and projects
  • Create a nurturing and fostering atmosphere to learn and create a sense of belonging for participants
  • Support with administrative functions, such as taking attendance and entering data, as needed.
  • Attend staff meetings and complete professional development hours as assigned by your supervisor
  • Other duties as assigned by the supervisor

Qualifications:*

  • Enrollment in College in a related field (Education/Human Development/Sociology/Human Services—for at least two years
  • At least two (2) years of experience in leading and conducting activities for youth (preferably High School population) in after-school or camp settings
  • Strong facilitation, conflict resolution, and group management skills in working with groups of youth to engage them in discussions in the areas of program activities and current events
  • Interest in developing and providing quality hands-on inquiry-based projects related to participant and community needs
  • Strong work ethic, professional demeanor, and team-oriented attitude
  • Organized, self-motivated, and effective time management skills
  • Ability to motivate participants to participate in activities and promote leadership skill development
  • Computer savvy, good verbal and written communication skills, and good interpersonal skills
  • Must be cleared of NYS DOH and DOE Fingerprinting Screening; NYS Clearance Review Background Check; 3 Reference Checks; physical examination with updated TB test

Status: Part-Time, Non-Exempt
Compensation: $19.00 - $21.00
Schedule: Monday – Friday, 3:00 pm – 7:00 pm
