JOB SUMMARY :
Under general supervision, using independent judgment, responsible for all functions related to ACH transactions, including, but not limited to processing files, resolving issues and maintaining controls over ACH and cash transactions.

Under general supervision, performs a variety of accounting clerical duties as required or assigned according to existing procedures, methods, and systems as a primary job task or as a backup resource which include downloading, receiving, sorting, and/or proofing accounting documents, posting appropriate entries to ledger accounts and reconciling general ledger accounts.

KEY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
:
  • Responsible for all duties associated with ACH processing including but not limited to: posting rejected or exception items, preparing and balancing ach related items, input stop payments and post appropriate journal entries
  • Process Federal ACH payment reclamations
  • Work in collaboration with other teams to resolve any ACH issues
  • Work ACH related ques including deceased members and return funds/disputes
  • Process cash orders for branches and ATM’s
  • Balance assigned general ledger accounts daily or monthly
  • Work CRM-Accounting Que for ACH research
  • Assist branches and members with inquiries
  • Maintain updated detailed job procedures, complete required annual training and remain current on all regulatory requirements
  • All accounting functions and records maintained in a timely and orderly manner in accordance with prescribed standards. Exception items attended to promptly corrected and posted daily. All transactions performed correctly and documented as appropriate to nature of transaction
  • Act as the primary backup for the following team positions:
  • Accounting Specialist
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Accredited ACH Professional (AAP) preferred. If not, must be willing to become accredited
  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance preferred
  • One to three years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Ability to read and comprehend instructions, correspondence, and memos
  • Ability to multi-task, work in a fast paced, changing environment and maintain a commitment to accuracy and timeliness
  • Ability to write correspondence
  • Ability to effectively present information in one‑on‑one and small group situations to members, team leader, and other team members of the organization
  • Ability to operate a personal computer and other standard office equipment such as fax machine, photocopier, ten key, telephone, and laser printer. Microsoft application knowledge, including Excel and Word is required
  • Ability to operate in a team environment to accomplish shared goals
  • Ability to effectively manage time as related to tasks
  • Excellent mathematical skills, accuracy, and basic knowledge of bookkeeping for use in maintaining accounting records is required
  • Must possess above average interpersonal skills to represent the Credit Union in a positive and courteous manner when dealing with members and all levels of team members
  • Strong listening skills to effectively determine member needs and resolve member and team member problems
  • Strong attention to detail
