Accessories Designer/Graphic Artist

A leading New York importer selling major retailers throughout North America for over 60 years is looking for a designer/graphic artist for its Infant & Toddler division.

Requirements:

• 3 - 5 years in infant/toddler accessory design and graphic experience. Cut & sew knowledge is a must
• Knowledge of the infant/toddler market: understanding how to design product & recognizing the limitations, while creating exceptional product at a price point that meets all guidelines
• Proficiency in Mac Software: Adobe Creative Suite- Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign. Excel skills is a big plus.
• Keen eye on color, trend, detail & construction
• Work with the design director on all projects
• Strong creative verbal and communication skills
• Strong typographic & layout skills
• Strong skills in tech pack files
• Be able to work with private label accounts, and adhere to their protocols
• Experience working and communicating with the Orient on development & production
• Ability to shift priorities in a fast paced environment
• Strong follow up skills
• Basic packaging skills
• Works well with others
• Understands production timeline and shipment schedules
• Must be legally able to work in the USA

Responsibilities:

• Collaborate with DD to design infant and toddler accessories, dress up sets and basic apparel pieces.
• Interpret trend direction utilizing market research, trend services, the internet and shopping the competition for new ideas.
• Work with sales team and reps on product and design development.
• Create tech packs and packaging guidelines for all product.
• Daily email communication with overseas vendors & factories on development follow up.
• Evaluation and comments of all prototypes, components, pre-pro & TOP samples.
• Follow up with sample requests and buyer and/or license approvals.
• Track and organize all approvals on WIP reports.
• Work with the production team to ensure the products are well executed in a timely manner.
• Weekly staff meetings to review projects, issues, timelines, etc.
• Create seasonal trend boards and presentations.
• Attend in house appointments to present design work & samples.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $55,000.00 - $70,000.00 per year
