Salary Range

$70,000 - $80,000 annually

Typical Hours

6:00am-4:30pm, Monday - Friday

Job Summary

Manages the sourcing, procurement, and inventory of the supplies, equipment, tools, and materials needed by the manufacturing operations at Deeter Foundry.

Managerial Functions

  • Responsible for all aspects of safety for the department including the completion of safety audits, accident investigations, and periodic reporting to management.
  • Train and motivate employees to perform their jobs safely and effectively; properly care for equipment and tools; work as a team; and maintain a safe work area.
  • Train and oversee new employees in the warehouse.
  • Create and maintain a housekeeping schedule ensuring cleanliness and organization of the work area.
  • Ensure department and company safety rules are being communicated and followed, including the use of PPE.
  • Responsible for department material and labor costs, as well as maintaining efficiency metrics.
  • Apply six-sigma and lean manufacturing principles to eliminate waste, reduce costs, and improve processes.
  • Hold employees accountable for their actions and job performance; reward, recognize, counsel, coach, mediate and discipline, as necessary.
  • Conduct accident/incident investigations for injuries, near-misses, and property damage within 24 hours of the knowledge of an incident.
  • Enter information regarding injuries, safety walks, JSA, etc. in the required record keeping systems.
  • Recommend equipment upgrades, replacements and facilitate repairs, as necessary.
  • Communicate information as necessary to ensure effective and safe operations, efficient equipment and material usage, and high quality.
  • Other activities as assigned to maintain production operations. Work assignments will be made at the discretion of management.

Department Specific Essential Functions

  • Issue purchase orders for the plant.
  • Ensure sufficient quantities of essential materials, equipment, tools, and supplies are maintained and available for use.
  • Control the inventory and purchase of stockroom merchandise.
  • Coordinate the re-use, disposal, re-charge and repair services for items such as fire extinguishers, lubrication dispensers, biohazard containers, forklift, LP tanks, etc.
  • Manage hazardous waste retention and disposal.
  • Manage the grounds keeping service for mowing, weed control, watering, and exterior clean-ups.
  • Institute and manage cost saving initiatives, inventory control methods, and re-order supply systems.
  • Produce accurate records of inventory, supplies, and material usage.
  • Find reliable and competitive sources for materials, supplies, tools and merchandise to support the plant.
  • Negotiate prices for merchandise and services from vendors.

Education/Training Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent is required, Bachelor’s degree preferred, business or industrial technology discipline desirable.
  • Basic first aid training or willingness to successfully complete such training.

Note: An equivalent combination of education and work experience will be considered.

Skill Requirements

  • Computer literacy in Microsoft Office required, and an ability to adapt to the use of customized computer software programs used in the business.
  • Experience driving powered industrial equipment such as forklift, Bobcat, and overhead cranes and hoists preferred.
  • Possess and maintain a valid state driver license.
  • Experience in sourcing, ordering, receiving, and inventorying products.
  • Bi-lingual (Spanish-English) beneficial, but not required.

Physical Requirements (met either with or without accommodation)

  • Occasionally exert up to 50 lbs. of force to lift, push or pull materials, tools or other objects.
  • Frequently exert up to 20 lbs. of force to lift, push or pull materials, tools or other objects.
  • Continually walk, stand or sit.
  • Occasionally squat, kneel or climb.
  • Gross and fine manual dexterity to manipulate tools, machine parts and computer systems.
  • Occasional reach outward or above shoulder height.
  • Vision: Correctable for depth of field, color, near and far.
  • Hearing: Correctable for regular verbal communication.
