Here are some details about the position. POSITION SUMMARY Under general supervision, the Zund Cutter Operator has full responsibility for operation of and meeting the schedule for the Zund Cutter. This position will utilize large format digital sheet fed machine with very high level of automation and technology. The Zund Cutter Operator requires machine set-ups and operations, calibrating equipment and measuring tolerances.
All job responsibilities are to be performed in strict adherence with the Company’s Mission/Values Statement and in accordance with established standards for external customers as well as internal customers. SUMMARY OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: • Works from most complex verbal or written process/production specifications, instructions, diagrams or models of higher-level technical personnel. • Responsible for the output and condition of Zund Cutter. • Effectively set-up, run, and trouble shoot Zund Cutter, demonstrating a pro-active approach in identifying and resolving issues.

SUMMARY OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: • Works from most complex verbal or written process/production specifications, instructions, diagrams or models of higher-level technical personnel. • Responsible for the output and condition of Zund Cutter. • Effectively set-up, run, and trouble shoot Zund Cutter, demonstrating a pro-active approach in identifying and resolving issues.
- Follows safe operating procedures and all safety rules and guidelines. • Selects, installs, sets, positions and aligns machine adjustments and inputs to maximize quality and productivity. • Selects available jobs in queue to balance meeting customer demands with production efficiency. • Stacks and feeds digital sheets.
- Observes machine operation to detect product defects or machine malfunctions. • Measures product dimensions to determine accuracy of machine operation and performs quality inspection of finished product. • Counts, stacks, marks, bands and transports finished product to the proper area as directed. • Performs a wide variety of jobs within plant operations as needed.
- Participates in routine testing or inspection activities as part of assembly or production process. • Completes work orders and load tags in legible print. • Has a complete understanding of the operational requirements of the Zund Cutter as well as the digital press. • Works with others in the graphics work center to coordinate production of digital product where further finishing may be required.
- Possesses an advanced knowledge of substrates and recommends changes in information provided to improve performance, quality and productivity of the Zund Cutter. • Performs required machine maintenance such as cleaning, calibration and general upkeep of machines or product. • Evaluates area operations and recommends improvements. • Participates in area meetings.
- Performs inventory transactions. • May be required to operate other equipment as needed. • Performs a variety of miscellaneous job-related tasks as may be assigned from time-to-time by a Management Representative. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES • High school diploma or General Education Degree (GED) and experience and/or training in a manufacturing environment.
- One to two years of experience in a manufacturing setting preferred. Experience operating a forklift is a plus. • Demonstrated performance and self-motivation to assume greater responsibility and work output to achieve results. • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with customers, and the ability to convey a positive and professional image of service and support to employees at all levels of responsibility in the Company.
- Ability to read English and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, procedures, manuals and order specifications. • Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. • Ability to compute rate, ratio and percentages. • Ability to read a ruler to 1/16th of an inch.
- Ability to apply common sense and understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. • Mechanical and spatial aptitude. • Attention to detail, accuracy and quality. • Enthusiasm, dedication, reliability and punctuality required.
- Ability to move from task/assignment to another on short notice.
