Status: Reg. Full-Time (Non-Exempt) Location: Youth Crisis Intervention Center, located in Winnebago, Nebraska 68071 Job Purpose & Position Overview: The Youth Intervention Specialist’s duties will be to provide screening and assessment of Youth entering the Youth Crisis Intervention Center leading to possible provisions of comprehensive intervention and team case management services. The Intervention Specialist will work directly with a Team in the coordination of intervention services (i.e. treatment, aftercare, reentry) utilizing a three phase approach. This includes individual and group sessions for individuals who are experiencing problems associated with substance abuse, mental health, trauma, co-dependency, and related issues. His/her primary caseload will be adolescents/their families. This position is required to have or obtain appropriate certification/licensure, knowledge, skills and abilities in providing counseling, Prevention, and intervention services. The incumbent will maintain an assigned caseload, provide program lectures and conduct group sessions.

Specific Job Duties/Responsibilities:
- Demonstrates the Winnebago Tribe’s core mission, vision, and values.
- Become knowledgeable of the YCIC organization, philosophy, functions, policies and procedures.
- Carries an active caseload and applies case management strategies that will motivate and redirect the behavior of youth participants. This includes intake and assessment, treatment planning, treatment progress reviews, discharge and reentry follow-up.
- Utilize accepted Evidence Based program techniques to identify client needs.
- Provide professional client care utilizing the YCIC’s philosophy in providing balanced and well-structured interventions that target emotional, spiritual, physical, and mental issues of the individual
- Provides comprehensive treatment plans in coordination with therapeutic staff based on individual needs of youth participants that include specific goals and objectives that specify each youth’s strengths/weaknesses and addresses the problems identified in the assessment process. Includes developing case planning timelines to have time frames for completion and anticipated outcomes in relation to court orders.
- Documents all aspects of each youth’s case including observations, case plan strategies provided and client responses to interventions and other assessments recommendations
- Keeps in regular contact with treatment providers and centers on progress of youth placed in treatment programs and provides reports to the necessary court staff.
- Coordinates with counselors to provide comprehensive aftercare and or reentry plans for youth and family members with specific recommendation that will facilitate the on-going process of recovery and address the needs of the youth.
- Recognizes crisis intervention situation and follows through in securing placements or by providing referrals to alleviate situations.
- Develops working relationships with in-patient treatment facilities, detoxification units, detention centers, private and State Facilities and be knowledgeable of their application and intake procedures.
- Develops necessary forms and documents needed for case management.
- Will assist youth and parent/guardians in the submission of their application to treatment centers and other placement options., making sure applications are complete and all required documents are attached.
- Maintain contact with PHS medical /surgical detox ward for patient referrals.
- Works closely with the YCIC Team and other Referral agencies to establish total care of youth.
- Monitor record keeping procedures to ensure full compliance with YCIC/Tribal Court rules and regulation governing client confidentiality.
- Completes timely and efficient documentation of youth participants care that is in full compliance with Tribal and Nebraska State Standards of Care.
- May transport clients to pre-treatment, quarters, detox centers, and inpatient treatment centers when necessary to aide in their recovery.
- Responsible for submitting monthly reports of activities and data for program, state and federal compliance purposes.
- Accurately completes client records utilizing the Buffalo Management Information System, (MIS), and (if necessary) State of Nebraska Reporting forms.
- Administer screening and assessment tools for the purpose of conducting evaluation to determine problems severity and psychosocial evaluations. Be aware and comply with confidentially policies, codes, laws and regulations concerning all participants.

- Licensed Counselor in the State of Nebraska preferred or be a Certified Provisional Counselor and working towards becoming a Licensed Counselor.
- Must abstain from Alcohol/Drug usage while employed in this position. A pre-employment drug test will be required and further testing will occur.
- Professional knowledge of established counseling and case management concepts, principals, practices, methods and techniques necessary to administer a psychosocial and spiritual case plan approach.
- Must have working knowledge and understanding of principles of 12 step self-help groups; i.e. Alcoholics Anonymous, Narcotics Anonymous, Al-anon, Trauma Informed Care, Fatherhood and Motherhood.
- Must be knowledgeable of the disease concept of substance abuse and possess a thorough understanding of substance abuse and effects of trauma as it pertains to Native Americans.
- Must be able to maintain the strictest confidentiality regarding clients and program records.
- Must possess good verbal and written skills and be able to communicate ideas and concepts adequately.
- Must possess a valid Driver’s license and be insurable and have own transportation.
