We're hiring a Youth Counselor for our Oskaloosa office!
The Guidance Center (TGC) is a community based, non-profit agency that serves as the local Community Mental Health Center for Atchison, Jefferson and Leavenworth Counties in Kansas. We are proud of our commitment to promoting recovery for children and adults with serious mental illness and substance abuse issues, and the many partnerships that we have developed in serving children, adolescents, adults and their families. Through advocacy and education, the agency also has made incredible strides in erasing the stigma, shame, and ignorance that prevent more than half of all individuals touched by such problems from seeking treatment.
Youth Counselor Benefits and Pay
- Hourly pay rate of $12.78 to $15.18 per hour, based on previous relevant experience

Youth Counselor Primary Responsibilities
- Assist with promoting successful group interactions among consumers
- Encourage and support clients’ engagement in YPP activities
- Facilitate/co-facilitate groups as assigned
- Serve as Attendant on van transportation routes as assigned
- Provide clinical notes which complies with center's standards and the requirements of all funding sources within required timeframes
Qualifications for Youth Counselor
- High school graduate or GED required
- Must have completed one year of college course work in the field of human services, or have one year of experience in the field of human services, or one year combination of education and work experience in the field of human services
- 6 months experience working with individuals in the community. Experience gained through practicum experience or volunteer work can be included
