BRIEF DESCRIPTION:

The purpose of this position is to perform a variety of clerical work in support of the Women, Infants, and Children Program at the main Health Department site, as well as, travel sites. Work involves considerable contact with program applicants and clients to obtain and provide information, and using computer-driven data entry equipment to compile information and prepare client files and routine forms and reports. Work may also involve performing hemoglobin/hematocrit finger stick testing and height/weight measuring of program applicants and clients, as well as, conducting various outreach activities in the community and surrounding area.

# Code Essential Functions
1 S Attend breastfeeding training classes necessary to become a WCS- Breastfeeding Peer Counselor. Participate in ongoing meetings and training regarding breastfeeding as well as all WIC services, including completing the WIC Certification Specialist training.
2 S Screen and determine eligibility of applicants and clients for income and residency requirements according to State and local policies.
3 S Use the computer to perform basic functions, including data entry of completed assessment, food benefits issuance, and appointment scheduling. Complete daily, weekly, monthly and quarterly computer reports according to State Agency requirements.
4 S Using good customer service skills, greet applicants and clients in person and on the telephone to schedule appointments, answer questions about the Program, appointment process, class times, food benefits and issuances, and receive vendor complaints. Contact the State Agency and other WIC sites to obtain transferring client information.
5 S File and pull client files. Assemble client eligibility and certification packets.
