Weekend Front Desk Staff Job Description

A Front Desk Receptionist is a warm, welcoming, outgoing, people-person that is passionate about connecting people to all of the awesome stuff that Muse Knoxville has to offer. They are Muse Knoxville’s first face that children and families meet. This is a forward-facing position that serves to connect all folks with everything Muse Knoxville. The Front Desk Receptionist handles everything from straightening up the gift shop to selling memberships to introducing and orienting new visitors to our site. Our Front Desk Receptionist must be a thoughtful problem-solver that seeks to make the visitor's experience enjoyable while desiring to make it better.

Schedule: Saturdays and Sundays 9:30-4:30

Location: Muse Knoxville, 516 N. Beaman St, Knoxville, TN 37914

Pay: $14.00/hour

AS A FRONT DESK RECEPTIONIST YOU WILL…

• Open the front lobby by making sure Gift Shop is ready, count cash drawer, set/disarm alarm, open doors
• Greet customers with positivity as they come in the door, check them in, inform them of membership opportunities, planetarium shows, and unique activities or events if occurring
• Handle cash transactions, sell tickets, memberships, and gift shop items
• Be knowledgeable about the location to be able to explain membership perks and future events
• Check-in members, party groups, and other special event guests
• Answer Muse Knoxville phone, answer questions and direct calls
• Keep lobby clean, organized, and stocked throughout the day
• Finalize and balance drawer at the end of the day
• Any other duties as assigned

Requirements:

• Pass a background check
• Previous experience as a receptionist or cashier preferred
• Experience with Blackbaud Altru ticketing a plus
• Strong organizational, good verbal communication and interpersonal skills
• Physical stamina for 8 hour day on feet, bending and playing
• Ability to count back change from a money transaction
