Weed Sprayer Job at BOX ELDER COUNTY
The weed control sprayer/operator performs semi-skilled duties in the operation and maintenance of equipment; must mix and apply pesticides according to label specifications; keeps detailed records of work activities and chemical applications; attends training sessions and must be able to obtain the Utah Department of Agriculture and Food Non-Commercial pesticide applicator license; sprayer/operator will report equipment failures and problems to supervisor; operate trucks, ATVs, equipment, sprayers and GPS units; ensures proper use of safety equipment, and performs other related duties as required. The Weed Control Sprayers II will be required to operate Tractors, Mowers, and Paint Roads.
Knowledge and understanding of: Spraying equipment and trucks; safety rules, procedures and practices; GPS/GIS equipment and associated software; principles of noxious weed identification and control; Principles of Integrated Pest Management.
Skills in: Map reading and accurate recording of all inspections and pesticide applications; performing mathematical computations; basic computer use and data entry; operating a standard or manual transmission vehicle; customer service.
Ability to: Traverse a wide range of physical conditions including: walking long distances with a 35 pound back pack; steep and challenging terrain; muddy, wet and slippery footing; operate specialized chemical application equipment; exercise sound judgment; lift up to 50 pounds; communicate effectively orally and in writing; maintain confidentiality; follow verbal and written instructions; pay attention to detail and accuracy; observe established lines of authority; deal with frequent changes, delays or unexpected events; establish effective working relationships with fellow employees, supervisors, and the public; observe assigned work hours; demonstrate punctuality; work as a team member or independently as required; deal with the public or other employees in a pleasant and courteous manner.
