Warehouse Associate – FAYETTEVILLE, NC

Starting Pay: $15.00
OVERVIEW OF GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
Assist Warehouse Supervisor in all phases of warehouse operations including sanitation, safety, maintenance, receiving, storage and distribution by performing the following duties:
- Responsible for pulling agency orders timely and accurately.
- Assists Warehouse Supervisor in ensuring warehouse facility is maintained in a clean, safe and orderly manner in accordance with Feeding America's Good Warehouse Practices manual, USDA requirements and local health department regulations.
- Inspect product donations to ensure that safety and sanitation standards are met as needed.
- Drive forklift and operate other powered and non-powered equipment to move product in and around the warehouse, on and off trucks, etc., while continually observing all required safety practices.
- Assists in product recovery operations (reclaim) to ensure the fitness and safety of salvage products. Ensures proper receiving, storage, rotation (using FIFO method), repacking and relabeling methods are employed.
- Work with agency volunteers and staff on appropriate reclaim handling and processing procedures. Maintain clean, organized and pest-free sorting, holding and staging areas.
- Restock shopping area with salvaged items as needed or directed.
- Assist in monitoring product expiration dates to ensure product quality. Report expiration status to Warehouse Supervisor at least daily.
- Maintain daily temperature logs on all refrigerated equipment.
- Perform related duties as assigned by the supervisor. Perform all duties in accordance with agency policies, Feeding America's Best Warehousing Practices, and applicable laws or regulations.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education: High School Graduate or General Education Degree (GED)
Experience: Six (6) months to one (1) year related warehouse experience and working with the public using customer service strategies.
Computer Skills
To perform this job successfully, the individual should have knowledge of the Internet, word processing, Powerpoint and Excel software. The employee must be able to learn Food Bank project software within 90 days of hire.

- Ability to work well with other staff and to relate well to donors and agency representatives. Speak to donors and clients with poise, voice control and confidence, imparting information in a clear and understanding manner.
- Proven ability to work steadily and independently with minimum supervision and to follow standardized written procedures.
- Demonstrated ability to maintain accurate records. Add, subtract, multiply and divide units of weight successfully. Write reports and record transactions with proper format and legibility.
- Exert force and/or lift or carry items weighing 20 to 50 pounds frequently.
- Up to 2/3 of the time: walk, sit, squat, and bend twist, reach various heights above and below shoulder level.
- Up to 1/3 of the time: push or pull; lift or carry large, heavy, awkward objects while maneuvering in a confined space; e.g., narrow aisles, high-density storage areas, inside of a truck box, etc., ascend or descend flights of stairs; climb in or out of trucks, docks and/or forklifts.
- Work inside freezers and coolers with a temperature of –10 degrees F to 38 degrees F.
Applicant must have:
Must be able to pass Forklift Certification test
Must be able to pass Forklift Certification test
Must be able to pass ServSafe Certification within 6 months of being hired
Must successfully pass a Fit for Duty Test
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
Background check with state and Federal law enforcement agency required. Selected applicants must submit to a pre-employment substance abuse screening test and receive a negative result for the use of drugs and alcohol as specified in agency policies. Must submit and receive negative results for random testing of same. The employee must have a valid North Carolina Driver's License. Must be able to pass a post-offer physical examination.
