The ECP Food Bank is currently serving 60,000 people per month with 1.5 million pounds of food every month. It is the largest and most diverse independently owned and operated food bank in Pierce County with the largest delivery program. All food is provided free to anyone experiencing hunger and food scarcity. The food bank encompasses numerous services including onsite, delivery, food panty locations, two mobile food banks, and more. This AmeriCorps opportunity is a project of Harvest Against Hunger, which connects local growers, food banks and volunteers to secure fresh produce for distribution to thousands of people throughout Washington State. The Harvest VISTA program finds innovative ways to decrease waste of fresh fruits and vegetables and increase the availability of nutritious produce for food bank clients. The Summer Associate (SA) program will work in an intensive level of summer service for 10 weeks.
Member Duties : The Summer Associate will be responsible for working with MADF’s volunteer program that works on recruiting new volunteers to the organization and working with the Eloise’s Cooking Pot Food Bank programs. The member will be responsible for working with existing volunteers and going to community meetings, doing social media campaigns, and other outreach efforts to recruit new long- and short-term volunteers to assist with all our various programs. They will also be responsible for data collection and reporting and it relates to the volunteer program.
